Attachments to fictional characters
Lots of people get them. ITT, discuss who you're attached to and why(if you can). Try and keep the "lolthatpersonsucks" to a minimum, and if you wonder why someone would like such-and-such character despite what you might find as obvious character flaws, ask in a... kind manner.

DEIDARA.
Deidara Deidara Deidara.
loldidn'tseethatcoming
He's an artist, I respect that. And I just the sense of pride he takes in his art. It makes me respect him even more. The mouths in his hands are a plus, too. << >> He doesn't care about what anyone says about his art, either that or he tries to prove them wrong. ...Or something along those lines. Sure I know he has flaws, he's stubborn, short-tempered, hot-headed, etc.
But In short: I love Deidara because he's an artist, and the pride he takes in the fact. I find it as a source of motivation and inspiration.

Re: Attachments to fictional characters
This thread is awfully suspicious but okay
There's this character named Taokaka from BlazBlue, a fighting game, and every part of her appearance, dialogue, and actions is 100% amazing at all times.
I'm still trying to figure out how that can be possible
Also: I hate cute things, fanservice characters, overly popular characters, and girls with annoying high-pitched voices.
Tao is all of these and manages to negate all of them and then become my favorite character in any game ever. This is saying something
I shouldn't try to list specific facts because I'd be at it for hours.
Oh well I'll do a short list
The real reason is she matches all the traits I value in characters: she insults everybody, is funny a lot of the time, doesn't make any sense, and is kind of creepy. Also bonus points for looking vaguely like a cat
However I'm wrong about things a lot of the time. I bet she is actually an awful character and I just can't see why.
I suspect she's a stock character type, maybe one I'm not familiar with because I'm not as saturated in Japanese media as a lot of you. Oh well
But why haven't you said anything yet Desu? You made the thread, and I think there might be a fictional character you're attached to

Oh well I'll do a short list
- Spoiler:
- -Praises herself for anything good that happens to her or the people around her, no matter how little impact she had on the situation...even during fights (on an instant block: "Good job, me!")
-Is completely retarded in the most insane ways possible at random times.
"Sorry boobie lady, I forgot where your house was, so...I got lost."
"You've been here hundreds of times..."
-On a throw escape: "Tao's smart!" Oh god lol
-Sometimes sleeps for a full thirty seconds before fights start. This is twice as hilarious if her opponent is really full of him/herself, especially Bang
-Her voice can go from "high-pitched girl" to "serial killer" without warning...sometimes mid-sentence ("Squiggly...I'm gonna PUNISH YOUUU!!!")
-Thinks she's a superhero. ("SQUIGGLY JUSTICE TACKLE!!") Also wants to become "Super Ultra Taokaka Deluxe".
-Voices her own sound effects. What
-Is a genetically engineered weapon. Most of these are brooding emo types who wear dark clothes and ask themselves stuff like "who am I" a lot. Tao...isn't like that. And that's funny.
-Her entire fighting style is designed to frustrate people, with the ability to fake out her opponent or trap them in horrifying combos such as "slap repeatedly in face".
-Taunt combos. Meaning, her strongest attacks involve asking her opponent "Didja eat breakfast?" in the middle of beating the shit out of them.
-After winning a fight, frequently chases a butterfly offscreen and slams her head into a telephone pole. Even in places like the pit of death miles underground. I don't know about you but I can't think of a better post-win victory pose
-Tao and Bang are my two favorite characters, and each of the three times they both appear in the story is one of the best parts in the entire game:
-Bang's dream. "...Roughness?"
-Bang dies and Tao delivers the best eulogy ever: She tells the kittens about how strong he was. "Not as strong as Tao, though." Oh god lol
-The Bang ending of Tao's storyline. Short version: Tao learns Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan.
-Completely ignores being hit with swords, lightning, bullets, and slamming into a metal plate at a million miles per hour. What
-Attacks people for the worst reasons imaginable, such as assuming that, since he beat Ragna, beating Bang in a fight would make her the ultimate vigilante.
"Where's the logic in that?"
"Beats me, meow!"
-Knows what "MP" is. I wouldn't have guessed she'd have the patience to play an RPG, but...
-Throws stuff at her opponents, including apple cores, baseballs, hammers, bombs, bowling balls, and sometimes Kaka kittens. Where the stuff comes from is a complete mystery. Also is known to carry around plates which remain unbroken even after getting repeatedly kicked by Ragna.
-Can fly around and triple jump. Double jumping already breaks all the laws of physics and now this
-Is obsessed with boobs. If she was male this would make sense. She isn't. "Your boobies are tiny! You should eat steamed buns. They'll make your breasts bigger!"
-If she's losing a fight, she'll complain about how bored she is.
-Similar to her voice, during fights her expression will change from "Cheshire cat" to "Satan" without warning. For example:
>>>>>
-Uses the phrase "crazy awesome".
-During fights, sometimes shouts "sandwich" for no apparent reason.
-Is often able to turn losing into winning, as demonstrated by Noel after beating Tao in arcade mode: "D-Don't mock me! I was supposed to be the winner..."
-Is one of the few video game characters that is given a task to perform and then completely ignores it for the rest of the game.
-Is a procrastinator. "Let's get going later!"
-Gives everyone a demeaning nickname. Twice as awesome with hardcore characters like v-13 ("A flappy thingy came out!")
-Her hunter-style pouncing super attack, besides being really cool and able to grab Jin right off of his ice car, is called "I'mma Beat the Crap Outta You". I'm pretty sure this is the best name for any attack ever
-Decided that it'd be a good idea to get back to her village by jumping down to it (making sure to strike a cool pose as she fell), even though it was miles below her. The only reason it didn't work is because she was falling so fast, she broke through the ground when she landed.
-Is very genre savvy, and breaks the 4th wall all the time, including before fights when she appears to look out of the TV.
-"YOU'RE ALREADY DEAD." Wait what the hell did she just say
-More reasons that I didn't know about keep showing up, and they haven't stopped.

I CANT THINK OH WAAAIT!
Haseo from .hack/Roots/GU
At first I hated him cause he was a total dick to everyone on top of being a whiny bitch. Though I grew to like him as he matured and realized HEY I NEED PEOPLE TO HELP ME CAUSE I FAIL. Towards the end he becomes a better person and manages to realize that his friends make him strong. Also cause he has the most bipolar personality at times.
(Sitting hating he has to watch the store)
???: Um Excuse me.
Haseo: (What.) WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Attachments to fictional characters
Waaaay too many to list. There's just a sort of bond between fictional people and myself. The same way I feel about real people. I guess in the end, people, ficticious or real, eventually prove to be the same thing. They're just part of your memories that shape who you are. So, while they may not be 'real', they still play an important role.

Re: Attachments to fictional characters
I've always found my self rather fond of Soul Eater Evens...I wouldn't exactly call it attached though.
A better example would be Volke or Zihark from the Fire Emblem series, I always restart if one of them is killed and I love their backstory and style.

Re: Attachments to fictional characters
My current obsession is Maka Albarn. I absolutely LOVE Maka. Make has a lot of qualities that I like, and I will list them.
She has blonde hair, and I love blonde hair. Also, green eyes and blonde hair rocks
She's skinny. I love skinny girls.
I like her small breasts. Yeah, Maka's are basically non-existant, but the look suits her(and makes her super cute).
She wears a red plaid skirt(super cute aswell), and yet has NO panty shots the entire show. I take this as a testament to her awesome fighting skillz.
She's a fucking beast.
She's smart. I like intelligent women.
She CARES about her friends, and is always willing to fight for there sake.
She doesn't blindly listen to her friends, has her own opinions, and will follow her own path.
She is determined!
She tries her best not to depend on others, and trait I can definitely respect and relate to.
She's just SO DAMN CUTE.
Oh yeah. PIGTAILS. She can actually pull them off. So cute.

Re: Attachments to fictional characters
I cannot believe I didn't post in this thread.
Anyways, I will always have an attachment to Lloyd Irving and Genis Sage. Not the seperate characters, but the duo itself. Because they're one of the best personifications of unbreakable best friend bonds ive seen. Shallow female character attachments to come later in the day.
Also, odd as it sound, im pretty attached to the cast of the Persona 4 RP. They're such an unruly group, always fighting among each other, yet they kind of have a vibe that shows that everyone has the best interests for everyone in the group. It wouldn't be the same group if it were missing even one person. (on a funny note, Ace and I realized that just about all the current characters are runaways.
Masuyo left his parents after the drug incident
Stefan ran away to be a hardcore hobo
Shinta just left or something
Yomiko ran away from her parents to live with her aunt
Karin was sent away to her grandmother
Kentaro (marked with spoilers because we havent gotten to this point in the story.)

Still feel the same way about this. More people will remember Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker than Anthony Weiner.Mufasa wrote:Waaaay too many to list.
