Funimation gains rights to the First Strike

So yeah, Funimation got the rights to the First Strike movie, which is cool. Cause now I can buy it on a dvd that doesnt cost over 100 bucks >_<

Whether it will be dubbed or just japanese with subs (which is what bandai is apparently doing with tales of the abyss) is unknown

Seriously, i'm so damn tired of funimation getting rights to EVERYTHING. I see Funimation as a Quantity over Quality thing. I'm almost ashamed their headquarters are in Texas. Lol.
I just PRAY they use the original voices...

Hm. I love funimation. I dont really see the issue with their dubs. And you're lucky i'd break into their headquarters. That and they always give cool stuff with their dvds like the awesome post cards that came with my Durarara boxset Very Happy

Thank god. All they need for the movie is Yuri Flynn and Rita. Raven and Estelle's scenes are short and unimportant enough that i wouldn't care if they had different voices.

I don't think FUNimation has ever released a sub-only DVD. I doubt they'll start now.

FUNimation is the biggest international distributor of anime by far. Viz doesn't even release their most popular series (Naruto and Bleach) in blu-ray while FUNimation is constantly cranking those out. And honestly, as far as I can tell, Viz just isn't doing much these days. I won't be surprised to see them quit anime sometime in the next 5-8 years.

What? Soul Eater's dub was pretty good. Not the best, but definitely one of the better ones, especially once Brittney Karbowski got more used to her role as Black Star.

Well hey its been a year lol.

Its coming out on June 26, and Yuri and Flynn are the only ones who retain their original voices. Then again they're the only ones that matter, Rita has one 4 minute scene, as do estelle and raven. Even then the clips show that they do their jobs just fine.

Yuri is using his Kanji voice. Troy IS like 3 or 4 years older at this point so its not bad and should be expected that he sounds a little older/raspier/Kanji

Also whats wrong with Vic? He's fucking awesome.

I have nothing against Vic personally, he's a cool guy. I just get sick of his voice acting.

Pics don’t really show it all that much but the cardboard cover is all shiny and holographic. The dub overall is pretty nicely done like most funi dubs, plus Troy Baker you can’t go wrong with that voice. No real special features to speak of that I came across but the menu is very nicely put together.
