Duke Nukem Forever

So I have heard mixed things about this game, has anyone played it yet to give an honest opinion?

Nope. I was gonna look into it. But I've been hearing mixed things about it too.

From what I understand its good in what it does but some of the reviews I have read indicate they are mad cause its more of a for laughs game than a serious fps.

See, that's something I enjoy.

Cause if you look at those popular FPSes: Killzone, Halo, Call of Duty, etc

They're all up their own asses in seriousness, that they're not fun.

IE: I loved Bullestorm. Cause it was ridiculous.

Yeah, but "for laughs" games can be really great (Psychonauts, Monkey Island). This game's apparently just sort of lousy.

That's the thing, a friend of my dad's said he got it and said its great, from what he said it sounded like bulletstorm in a way, also takes shots at making fun of Halo and Call of Duty.

Well, I usually trust Yatzhee's opinion. I don't base my purchases off him, but I respect his opinion. For EX, he didn't really like LA Noire, but I got it, and loved it, while acknowledging pretty much everything he mentioned.

He didn't really like Duke Nukem either. I'm open to it surprising me, but i think I'll wait till I'm up at school and I can borrow it from someone.

Well, what can you say? Game's been hyped for over a decade, of course it won't live up to expectations, especially when a random other company takes up the responsibility of finishing it. And being the spiritual successor to Duke Nukem 3D makes things even worse, because that game was a masterpiece (seriously, there are few other FPS games that can rival it (mostly talking single player here)).

Anyway, from what I've heard from a reputable source, the game is fun and all, but not really worth the price. From the things he told me, the game sounds pretty rushed, and I'd believe that, personally (due to the game's history). I'd just check it out and play it for kicks, and since I'm kind of a Duke fan, I can't pass it up. It's already coming to me, so we'll see how it is.
