Pokemon Black & White

Well the WILD ones. But you never get as much experience from wild ones as trained ones. But it's a little hard to fight pokemone 15 levels higher than you.

Also, the one feature that has been in the game since the original gold seems to be missing. Maybe I haven't gotten it yet, but it seems that they took OUT the option to re battle people.

Unless I'm missing something.

The stadium. You rebattle the trainers there daily and they all have lvl 65+ pokemon after beating the game. thats where you train. also the riches mansion in Undela town (where you can also fight cynthia every day in spring)

Eh. It's not a verses seeker, but it's better than nothing.

All I ever did in gold was re-battle gym leaders anyway.

So after beating this I did what I always do and AR a bunch of masterballs. Im against hacking stats or cheating during battles but ever since that shiny scyther got away from me back in fire-red, I always carry a couple extra masterballs for shinies. Anyway the cheat that got the masterbalss filled the bag with all the other items too, so when I saw the levels jump from fifty to high sixties i was like fuck my pride every pokemon holds lucky egg from now on.

Aw, no re-battling gym leaders? Ah well, I like these wild zangoose and braviarys to train. Lol. I'm getting alot of quick claws from the zangoose.

Just did some of the pokemon transfer thing today.

The most tedious, irritating, pointless thing in the entire game.

I don't know why they just don't let you HAVE the pokemon, 6 by 6.


And the no item thing is annoying too.

I thought it was 6 at a time? Which transfer method did you use?

One you can use before you beat the game. But it can only be used for the special Celebi and Beast Trio.

The other is for after beating the game, it's for everything else. It's supposed to do 6 at a time for as much as you want in a day.

If you dont transfer the special pokemon using the relocator, you wont get the zoroark or zorua events. You should NOT transfer them with poketransfer.

Not necessarily, but what stops me from doing it is the no-item thing.

Well.

I beat the game today. It was amazing.

And seeing all the old Pokemon, which start appearing once you've won, made it incredibly obvious:

I love how the game forces you to use only 5th gen Pokemon until you've beaten it. It made the whole experience a hell of a lot better.

Instead of relying on the same old strategies and teams (Geodude is usually so useful, it ends up on my team in every game and it's annoying), this one forces you to reevaluate everything.

You don't know what all the type combinations are! You've got to experiment and explore.
That's probably the #1 reason this doesn't feel like just another Pokemon game.

Even better, since I didn't have the option of using my old favorites, I had more opportunities to appreciate the new Pokemon.
Turns out I like basically all of them! I was shocked.

I was going to change my old position to "I hate all Pokemon that aren't 1st or 5th gen", which is a pretty big change, but it got even better than that!

Seeing all the old Pokemon again, even the ones I wasn't too crazy about, felt all nostalgic after being restricted to 5th gen. Each encounter was a new surprise.
My inner dialogue started sounding like the announcer from Stadium.
"Oh! It's SHROOMISH!" "Oh! It's PERSIAN!"

So to sum up this is the best Pokemon game, probably the best generation too, and whenever Nintento releases a Wii tie-in game I'll be all over that like dirt on a Crustle.

I dunno. I'm gonna have to argue the opposite. Not that it's the WORST pokemon game, but Heart Gold and Soul Silver were infinite times better. Just by interface alone, but more than that and more that stuff that was considered customary to be in the game were taken out for whatever reason. But there's very little to do after beating the Elite 4.

You have a LITTLE exploration, and some new trainers, but there's no where near enough to do when compared to HG/SS, or Platinum/Pearl/Diamond, or even with Ruby or Saphire.

There was stuff to do in all those games BESIDES just battling or catching pokemon. This game focuses too much on all the wifi stuff and it overloads us.

There's so much wifi stuff to do, but not that much in game on your own to do. I agree that it helps to be forced to use the 5th generation till after the elite 4. But afterwards the game feels so empty.

Maybe it's just me and I'm gonna get yelled at for not enjoying the game. It's fun, it's fine, but when compared to older pokemon games it's pretty bland.

This......is not the best generation. Its the best SYSTEM the game has used (you can only use the new ones till you beat the game) but still a good 40% of the pokemon are shitty. But this system also made alot of people just fly through the game and not even bother with anything it had to offer, so they could beat the game and get their old (Good) pokemon. Also, rather than "Tee hee hee have fun little kid complete the pokedex yay pokemonnnnnnnnnn~" like the other games were like, this one focuses much more on the ACTUAL FIGHTING and competitive shit. THATS why I like black and white. That and its graphically superior to Soul Silver XD

Oh and the town and route music changing with the seasons is godlike (untill it gets to a version i dont like)

Luckily my favorite song (Undella town) plays the same song in fall AND spring, but it changes to some tropical stuff in summer. D:

Do you mean, like, stats-wise, or appearance? I was talking about appearance mostly.

Also I'll be playing HG to get the legendary dogs so I can get Zoroark or whatever it is, so I'll be able to see for myself what it's like after beating it.

I agree with Catbread and forceing you to use 5th gens. I like B/W's story. It was my favorite. I don't even remember P/D/Pt. I still remember and like R/S/E, HG/SS/C and R/B/Y's plotlines n stuff, but I can't really remember D/P/Pt's at all.

I do think it focuses more on competitive battling than other games, which is good, but they messed up the levels with wifi friend battles. That's what I don't like. But I never liked to competitive battle with random people on the DS anyway, (like battle tower etc) I should probably start doing it though. I'll love the game even more if there's a 2nd BattleRev.

And I will NOT transfer ANY pokemon over, until I can figure out where to get all of my competitive hold items. (Super-Effective berries, BightPowder, FOCUS SASHES, etc.) I had so much of everything saved up aaarrruugghhh...D:

Oh also: since tms aren't transferrable and some of these TM moves from 4th gen arent around in this game, you can't use new pokemon with movesets from both generations.

ex:

wigglytuff could have stealth rock in 4th gen. it can't have it here, so using it online is illegal and it wont let you. people have the same issue with roost pokemon cause its not a TM anymore.

Are you serious? So pokemon with 4th gen exclusive TMs aren't usable on Wifi? Wow. That's stupid.

I think I remembered it wrong actually. If the pokemon comes from 4th gen you can have the 4th gen moves plus 5th gen moves. But you can't have a pokemon born in 5th gen have moves that can only be obtained in 4th.

That makes more sense.
