"Hm...fishing or cross-examination? Tough choice." Shinta said with a smirk.

"Don't worry too much," Karin said putting an arm around Misaki, "they may not look it but they get the job done. They beat Ryuusaki, didn't they? Now, c'mon and eat something."

Maeko smirked back. "We'll be at the river bank if you're interested." She turned to Nene. "Let's go Nene, we need to get there before it gets too late in the day."

"Roger captain!" Nene said saluting Maeko and following her.

"I suppose..........but you all seem so ........ disorganized and unreliable with the way you all act here." Misaki said rubbing her head.

"I thought the whole point was to lay low and all that shit. Would crazy drug murderous nurse bitches see a typical lazy teenager and go "YOU'RE TOTALLY THE ONE"?" Yomiko asked leaning back in her chair

Maeko turned back to Shinta as she walked off, then looked back. She attempted to make more small talk. "Have..,you have any fishing experience before?"

"You know as disorganized as we are, the enemy seems to have just as many discrepancies in their actions as we do. Sometimes it seems like they get their plans from the same warped place that Masu-bro gets his ideas from."

"Stefan. Catch." Toshiyuki tossed the cell phone to Stefan. It hit his chest before he caught it.

"Oi! Watch it, okay?" Stefan stuffed the phone in his pocket.

"How's your hand?" He asked.

"Better than yesterday. You get any sleep?" He asked.

"No. I was up all night monitoring the situation. They didn't take the bait to nab you, correct?"

"No."

"Sorry for making you stay up all night for nothing then. Rodrigo and Amy were also fine, as I expected. It's likely that they want to use your former group to get rid of us. Hopefully, I've ironed things out with them through Shinta. I doubt it however." They walked together.

"They're nothing if not stubborn, that's for sure. At least most of them." Stefan commented, staring into the distance.

"If they do decide to co-operate with us, it's likely she'll start targeting us as well."

"What'll we do about Rodrigo? He can't leave the hospital like he is." Stefan stopped walking, and took a worried expression. "At least not for more than a day at most."

"His curse is also his blessing. With the amount of suffering he's enduring, she's likely enjoying his presence too much to kill him. We've shown no sign that we're an immediate threat, she'll prolong his life as long as she can." He looked back to Stefan. "...She's a sociopath. It's not exactly a weakness, but it might be Rodrigo's saving grace."

"...You gonna leave it to chance? This is Rodrigo's life. What little of it he has left. Hell, death might be a mercy to him as he is." He clenched his fists.

"...Rodrigo has a remarkable spirit. While you and Amy are cursing what's happening to you, he's embracing it. Despite how bad his condition is."

"...What about you? We've all been experiencing side effects, are you?"

"I have. Though, if you don't mind, I'd like to keep them personal." He looked away. "....I may have botched this whole thing up."

"...What do you mean?"

"In my selfishness to keep this power to ourselves, I've ruined nearly all chances that this group and theirs would work together. It may wind up being our doom." Toshiyuki looked to the ground. "I've made mistakes before, but this one may end up costing us a few lives, at best."

"....So what do we do?" Stefan asked.

"We wait. And hopefully Shinta will take my words to heart. Maybe convince enough of the others. For now...I'll inform Amy, will you visit Rodrigo and get him up to speed. I'd rather avoid seeing her."

"Okay...Take it easy." He turned around and headed for the bus stop.

"...." Toshiyuki waited till Stefan was out of earshot. "Fuck me." He cursed.

"Shut the fuck up!" Masuyo shouted at Kentaro as he threw a Crepe at him.


"Mmmhm. When Tsu-chan and I were still on the run. We didn't have money so I had to learn how to feed us. Definitely better than resorting to whoring ourselves out for money thats for sure heh heh heh....." Nene said with a nervous laugh at the end.

"....Yeah." Maeko replied, with an awkward silence. They approached the river bank. "Alright, let's find a good spot. They tend to prefer shade."

"Alrighty. So do you prefer to go with live bait or lures?" Nene asked Maeko.

"Whatever I have on me." Maeko said holding up the plate of food Masuyo handed her earlier. "Live bait isn't good for very long, and lures can get expensive, so I've learnd to just use what's available." Maeko replied. They walked further up the river and found a somewhat secluded spot, plentiful with trees. "This should be good."

"Ah ok. I had to go with digging up live bait since we didn't really have food to use as bait. Heh." Nene said as she kneeled over into the dirt and started digging. "Oh! Im sorry! Force of habit!" she said awkwardly. "S-so we're feedin em eggs n bacon this morning?" she said with a shaky voice. "Lets get a baitin then!"

"...Hm. Yeah." Maeko said, smiling slightly. "You can use live if you want. When I don't have food, I tend to do that, or stuff I find in the city trash." Maeko said as she set up her gear. She pulled her fishing hooks out of her vest pocket and placed a small piece of crepe on it. She cast out her line and stuck the other end on the fishing rod in the rocky riverbank to hold it up.

"Come n get it fishies!" Nene shouted as she cast her line out into the water. Instead of placing it down she continued to hold it. "So you became a fisherman extraordinaire through your pops?" she asked. "Er, pops is what i'd call my grandfather hehehe."

Maeko got quiet and hung her head. "...Yeah.He taught me what I know now. I'd be dead without him."

"He sounds like a great man. What.......happened? If you dont mind me asking.Its actually bothered me for a while honestly." Nene said with a concerned look on her face.

"Er..N-no! No one needs to know.." Maeko replied, staring at her fishing bob in the water, wrapping her arms around her knees. She attempted to change the subject. "Hey, Nene..am I...likeable?"

"As a person? Or to boys?" she asked plainly

"I mean...as a person. Or both..I guess." Maeko sighed. "Sorry, I'm no good at..conversation."

"Its okay! Im fine with being your practice buddy!" Nene said smiling. "Anyways, for both people and boys? You're just fine honestly. Just smile a little more!"

"Thanks, but...whenever I do that, they seem to ignore it." Maeko replied, reffering to earlier with Kentaro and Shinta. Ske kept her eye on the bob in the water. "How does one be...expressive, of those things?"

"Ah. I say it'll happen overtime. Besides im sure they all notice, they're just all blockheads. Kentaro is just obsessing over Tsu-chan and I have no clue what goes on in Shinta's head. I mean they're ALL nutcases!" Nene said with a laugh. "Besides, I notice your beautiful smile!"

"Er...Thanks." Maeko mumbled back. She noticed the bob sink into the water, she quickly grabbed her rid out of the ground and quickly reeled it in with little effort. On the end of the hook was a Red goldfish. "...Sigh."

"Aw shoot. Well no point in getting bummed out over a lame first catch. Throw 'er back out there!" Nene said patting Maeko's shoulder

"...Yeah." Maeko tossed the goldfish back in the water. "How's yours holding up?" Maeko asked. "But...you say overtime. How much time?"

"I don't know. I cant answer that." Nene said with a weak smile. "They're idiots. You may be better if you cried infront of them shouting "Why am I unnoticed!?" or something. I know Masuyo and Kentaro would fall for that. Shinta..........I cant say. He still acts as if its a mystery if hes friends with Masuyo or not for gods sake." Nene said with a sigh. "Ooh! I got a bite!" she said feeling a force tug on the line
