Monster Hunter 3
Now normally, I wouldn't be interested in this game, but there are a couple of signs that it might be good. I first got interested in it, cause it was on the wii. In the crappy advertisement I saw, they called it the first online adventure co-op multiplayer for the wii. Though I find it to be more degrading to the Wii than to be a point in favor for the game, it got me interested enough to check it out.
The graphics look average at best, but it's on the wii. It just comes with the deal. But I noticed that they said that the first two games were on the PSP. So if the games was not made by nintendo, that means that they might not have any hand in it, which means they can't fuck it up like they did to Symphonia.
I also noticed that you could play with the wiimote, or the classic controller. Which means no stupid wii-mote waggle quick time events like in every other wii game.
The online multiplayer co-op is another point in it's favor. We wouldn't be able to talk, cause the wii has no mic system. At least not one worth buying, but it would be fun to play anyway, I think.
Here's the official description off amazon:
It's out on 4/20. Which means a lot of high kids will be getting it for the flashy colors. I'd be getting it to get something to add to my stockpile of 4 games for the wii. Most of which are sequels to games from the cube.

- Spoiler:
- Capcom's original creature-stalking role-playing series makes its anticipated Wii debut with Monster Hunter Tri. You are cast in the role of a hunter, whose mission is to seek out and defeat an assortment of large beasts in action-oriented combat. For the first time in the franchise, you will be able to explore a new "sub-aqua" environment in addition to dry land. The game's core design will otherwise be familiar to fans of the two previous installments on PSP. You'll begin your adventures in a single village, where you'll return after each hunting expedition to purchase items, forge weapons and armor, and even manage a farm. Out in the wild, you can develop skills in mining, gathering, and carving to craft items that will assist your character.
Items found in your journeys can also be used to improve the earthquake-ravaged town's appearance over time. One of the key features in Monster Hunter Tri is the ability to join forces with up to three fellow hunters to battle the giant creatures. The Wii version features a split-screen option for two-player quests as well as online support for four-player quests. The game's online features will not include a monthly fee in the U.S. and European markets. Those who'd prefer to go hunting alone can enlist the aid of an AI partner for some of the more challenging quests. Three controller configurations are available, from the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combo to the standalone Classic Controller. The Wii Speak accessory is also supported for voice communication during online adventures

You make it seem like every game on the Wii except for this one forces you to move to play.
Anywho, I'll be picking up me copy next Tuesday. Ahhhhn~! Can't wait! Can't wait to hunt monsters with a lance. Maybe I'll play with someone here if they get it.

Re: Monster Hunter 3
I already heard about it from when it was first announced, and I actually played the first two for the psp and it was great. this one comes from the ps2 version though, sorta like a remake. Sadly theirs a better verison of monster hunter coming out for the 360 but is only for japan and its more like an MMO, which for this kind of game is very promising.
Re: Monster Hunter 3
I may get it.
Only cuz Lyle is thinking of getting it. And some other ppl may get it.
And then we can run around and take out our problems in life rage out on clueless monsters as we run them through with spears n shit.
Prolly not getting the wiispeak though

Re: Monster Hunter 3
I would consider getting the wii speak. It probably won't be as good as the 360 system. But nothing ever is.
But yeah. This would be a good way to play with people on the forum who don't have 360. Forging our Slinks closer.
Plus taking rage out on monsters with giant swords never gets old.
I just hope the gameplay doesn't suck.

Re: Monster Hunter 3
Alright, I've had this game since 10:58 AM EST. And it's really fun. In the game, you have notes teaching you the controls for each available weapon type(Two of them have to be unlocked). And there's a tutorial for the normal controls. It's pretty much free roam, even when you're on a quest(but the quests have time limits). So yeah, I'm having fun with this.

Re: Monster Hunter 3
Yeah, I bought it at gamestop yesterday and the people were like: "Good choice."
I mean, they're probably trying to make a sale too. But one of the guys said he was playing it before he went to work and he loved it.

Re: Monster Hunter 3
So, first impressions are pretty bad.
Which I'm really reluctant to say that. Cause I had such hopes for the game.
Combat seems to be nothing but press 'A' over and over. There's no targeting, no flowing combat. Just A after A after A. None of the weapons so far are any good. The sword does little to know damage, and the other weapons make you so slow, it ruins the adventurous style of gameplay.
i think that the graphics were supposed to be the selling point here, with the greenery scenery and the various monsters, but being on the wii, it's pretty limited with that. RD looked better honestly.
Also, things are pretty blurry.
Plotwise I can't tell what's going on. It doesn't seem that you can make your character better in any way other than buying new weapons. No abilities, no special moves. Just 'A' 'A' 'A' with new sharp objects.
I've only played for like an hour. So I'm hoping it gets better as I progress. Though it would be fun to play with friends, if only to talk about how boring it is to be playing this as of right now, and how we should have picked L4D to play.
Also, there's practically NO soundtrack. As soon as you walk out of the village, there's a fanfare, and then nothing till you walk back into the village.
Realism is an acceptable sacrifice for entertainment.

Re: Monster Hunter 3
Have you played any of the other monster hunters, cause thats pretty much how most of the others flowed, you basically pressed the attack button while moving to evade.
Re: Monster Hunter 3
also your supposed to do little to no damage at all in the beginning and as you progress through the game you make new weapons and become an expert of course.
Re: Monster Hunter 3
I would think there would at least be some improvement on the combat as you go along, seeing as that's the only thing you do in the game.
At the very least, allow us to do more combos. Three damn attacks and then restart is super boring.
