Seeing as P3P came out November (october 31st, but basically november) in japan, and it came to the US in july, then if it has the same time frame then we should get it october~december.

And thats IF it gets localized. Cuz y'know, Hitler. And homosexuality.

Release date for this game has been pushed back to the 11th of April for a Japanese release. Still no word on an American release.

Apparently there's gonna be a some sort of an additional side quest mode called "theater mode". More details in link since I'm never good at describing a good old fashion SMT clusterfuck.

Alright the Innocent Sin homepage has been updated to include the second of 4 new side quest. This one is called the Classroom of charisma, and will deal with a Teacher who is able to make his students do what he wants (at least I think). Also they have started to include wallpaper on the homepage with new ones being released regularly.

Also did I mention the box art looks outright amazing.

Here's the homepage

So new updates to the sites homepage include 4 new wallpapers, character bio's for 5 of the main characters, and another new mode that will be introduced for the PSP version. This time however SMT fans will take a trip down memory lane as the new mode takes the cast of Persona 2 IS to the setting for Shin Megami Tensei If... (the indirect sequel to the first SMT game).

Also new drawings indicate new monsters for this game, one such seems to point to Persephone as being one of them.

So Atlus has released a newsletter from June 23rd 1999, for those of you who do not know, Persona 2 Innocent Sin was release a day later in Japan. So there is a lot of speculation that this is a teaser pointing to it's potential US release. Here's the link

Persona 2 Innocent Sin Portable - Page 2 Empty Re: Persona 2 Innocent Sin Portable

Post by Tatsuya Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:50 pm

Alright so I've complied some information that could be considered helpful for those who are going to be playing the game for the first time on the PSP. However since it is the psp version some of this stuff might be out of date, so this will get edited accordingly.

Persona 2 Innocent Sin
A collection of tips an tricks
You Spirit Specter with my face, Why do you mock my love-pain so?

1. Character Notes

Tatsuya: Tatsuya is the main character of the game and much like most other main characters in the SMT series he is the only one that you can control their growths. However it is generally wise to invest a bit more into STR and VIT points than AGL and TEC due to the fact that more of his low sp personas have physical attacks as well as magic. He's also the only character you get through the entire game whose basic attack is related to the slash damage tree of physical attacks.

Michille (Spelling optional): Basically the powerhouse of the group his growths generally favor STR and VIT over the other two. However, unlike Tatsuya, he doesn't put as much purpose in tech as you can since his growths are fixed and you have the option to change yours. His weapon of choice is a machine gun hidden within a cello case. So he's one of 4 characters that do shot type damage however he will do the most damage all of the time of the four.

Lisa: The speedster of the group and the most well rounded of the six players you get, she focuses on AGL with a mix between STR and VIT for her second. Meaning she'll generally hit more often with physicals and also dodge more physicals. Which is all fine and dandy but most attacks will be magic oriented so it's not like she will be using her dodge ability as often as you would like. Uses fist as a physical attack.

Maya (hopefully this is the right spelling since they use like 3 different versons of the word through the game): The mage powerhouse of the group who naturally has higher tec and lower str and vit but not to levels where it would be a terrible handy-cap like in some games. She is also the only persona user who starts the game with a persona that knows dia/media making her useful for healing.

Yukkio: She focuses on VIT with TEC and STR as secondary growths. She can be rather helpful throughout her time in the party due to VIT being tied to HP and DEF.

Jun: Where as everyone else focuses on the other four stat, Jun get's more growths and LUK with average growths everywhere else. Which is okay by my standards due to the fact that LUK factors into a few things (more on that in a minute). He's also the only persona user that starts with wind spells. However, since you get him late about a little over halfway into the game that isn't as major as you would think.

2. Stats and what they mean

HP: Pretty self-explanitory, however HP is modified by the VIT stat with roughly one point being 4 additional HP. Characters also gain hp naturally through level-ups
TP: Once again pretty self explainitory: Modified by the TEC stat with roughly 1 point being 5 plus TP. Characters gain TP through level ups as well
STR: Modifies the ATK stat: Roughly 2-4 points per point of STR.
VIT: Modifies HP and increases def by a few points per two points of VIT
TEC: Modifies TP and increases SPATK and SPDEF every two points or so
AGL: Affects speed, accuracy of basic attack, and dodging of Physical attacks and spells
LUK: Affects how often a mutation occurs when using a fusion spell, affects critical dodge, and critical hit. Probably affects a few other things as well

3. Mutations and what they do?
A mutation is when a persona gains special bonuses after using a fusion spell in battle. You will not know when a mutation occurs until the victory screen. Naturally running from a battle half-way through will negate it if you did get one.
The list of mutations that you can get (in terms of likeliness)
1. Parameters increased: Increases stats of the persona who get’s the mutation great since persona’s only level up 8 times
2. Two level’s up: Pretty self-explainitory great for when you have to level-up personas fast
3. Hidden Spell: All persona’s have a spell that they can learn if they hit this mutation, for instance if Volcanus (Tatsuya’s Starting persona) get’s this mutation the spell learned will be dia
4. Mutation: Very rare and exclusive to few persona. This ablitiy allows you to change persona into a more powerful one. However when mutated the persona it changes to reverts back to level 1
4. Fusion Spells
Fusion Spells are basically what I consider a game changing mechanic in the game. Unlike in Persona 3 where you had to have two personae in your party, as long as you have the required spells in your party’s currently equpied persona list you will be fine. Some spells are affected heavily by the tec stat while other’s are not. Fusion spells have similar ablities as regular spells by that being they can only target what they are listed to target. Take example hydro-booster, it can only hit 1 demon and only one demon regardless, where-as other spells can attack the entire enemy group or just the same enemies.
Reward for getting up to 99: Once you get to level 99 you have the ablity to learn the ultimate spell armagedon. Which instantly ends all fights when activated, even boss fights, meaning that you can end the final boss without a issue. The only boss that was documented to have immunity to armagedon was Philemon and he’s the optional boss of Persona 2 Eternal Punishment meaning he’s not an issue. The two persona you need are Lucifer and Satan.
5. Rumors and how they work
Rumors make up a good part of the game mechanics, rumors at certain points can do one of they many things such as determine the value and integrity of armor, advance the plot, and give you bonus items from various dungons. However each rumor is 3000 yen a pop which may seem expensive a bit early on but once you get to about a third of the way into the game it isn’t as bad. The one thing you have to worry about is armor levels.
Armor levels are determined by what rumor you set for a certain area. There are five rumors you can set retaining to armor and weapons. With them being
1. Really expensive but excellent
2. Average price but good
3. Cheap but really bad
4. Average but buys back at a better rate
5. Average but buys back at a lower rate
The first option is really good for those who love to grind out for money and experience since by the later half of the game the weapons and armors can become rather expensive. If you aren’t one to grind generally it is best to try to shoot for either the second or the fourth option seeing as the armor is good enough to get you by. However don’t try for 3 unless you like a challenge or 5 if you want to grind even more.
6. Spell types that were cut out of Persona 3 but were in Persona 2
Persona 2 had roughly 4-5 more spell types that were never included into Persona 3 or were collapsed into various other types. Spells that are in 2 but not in 3 include
1. Aques: Water
2. Magnus: Earth
3. Friedyine: Nuclear
4. Almighty (changed to Expel in later games)

7. Demon Negotiations and Tarot Cards
Demon Negotiations are a required part of the game due to the fact that you need negotiations in order to get tarot cards which allow you to get better demons. There are four results of negotiations, Happy, Interested, Angry, and Fear, and any combanation of the last three.
1. Happy: Allows you to make a demon contract which can give you items if you talk to them if you see them in a fight later
2. Interested: Allows you to get tarot cards, number and type of cards vary on what monster it is. Needless to say that the higher leveled the demon the more cards you get
3. Angry: Demon negotiations for that demon type ends for this fight, and they can get furious status which increases atk but makes it so they can only attack. Also they could flee out of anger. Also when combined with interest it produces even more varied results
4. Fear: Generally if this happens the demon type in question will lose their next turn but if there are other demons in the area they get first strike. If paired with interested get’s the the charm status which could help you and hurt demons

I haven't been playing close attention to this release sadly. With Graces, Xillia, Abyss, (now Innocence) Devil Survivor, Persona 4 Golden, Fallout New Vegas DLCs coming out soon, all holding my interest, I didn't forget about it, but it did slip my mind.

I'm not going to buy it right away, but it will be on my list.

Also, when does Devil Survivor 2 come out in States?
