I don't really have any cool hobo tales but I did make an interesting observation the other day. One month working in DC only two guys trying to bum change, one in a wheelchair eating a sandwich, the other short a dollar for exit fare on the subway. Compare to my first week in Italy where there were gypsies on every corner and the cripples have cardboard boxes instead of chairs. We're pretty damn lucky.

strangely enough, they all seem to avoid me, both in DC and Maryland. Last time I saw one was about 4 months ago deep in maryland :/

Other than that, I run into hobos in NY city fairly often. They've gotten rather bold now. Asking for money for booze or weed. I guess honesty gets them further than it did before.

I've no issue helping those less fortunate, however, but I'll not give up what little money I have to feed someone else's addiction. I have my own addictions to feed. I.E. booze. Or video game. Or coffee.
