Abyss: Capacity Cores? Empty Abyss: Capacity Cores?

So, Zero and I finally beat Abyss YAY. Then we started wondering about them but never bothered, because we really had no idea what they did so we just kept on playin'.

So, my questions: What are Capacity Cores exactly? What do they do? Are they worth using?

They do stuff to artes like make them stronger, change TP cost etc.

Their useful but you (clearly) don't need them to beat the game.

You need them if you play on hard or above (which you should)

They're the only way of maxing out stats too (you need the one you get from jade near endgame and steal the best one from Nebilim)
