I've been thinking about this game

I kinda think, that if they had managed to get all the original voice actors to do the voices for the Symphonia cast, that I might have liked this game better. I mean yeah, it would not be anywhere near as good as the first still, but at least we wouldn't have to warp our perceptions of reality to realize that they're still the same people we fell in love with in the first one.

Or, if they just abandoned the original cast, focused on Emil and marta like they did, made the story take place 100 years later, and then called it something different, then I would have liked it better then too.

Another big problem I had was the emphasis on Norse Mythology. I mean, the first one had that too, but it was very loose, and you didn't really realize it unless you knew the names inside out.

This one however, at the end of the game, it jumped over the edge into the great abyss of Norse mythology and introduced the ginnungagap, Ragnarok, etc etc all this Norse mythology themes and ideas, and it was just almost putrid....

Also; Yggdrassil>Ricther.

I completely agree with the first two paragraphs. Although the thing is, some of the old voice actors weren't allowed to reprise their roles. Something about them having to look for non-union voice actors. Crispin Freeman himself stated that he would have loved to reprise his role as Regal, but couldn't because he was a union VA.

Ahhh. That explains it. I couldn't imagine people who did the voices for a game as awesome as Symphonia refusing to do the voices for the sequel. (Don't correct me if someone just flat out didn't want to do it. I like living in this illusion.)

Unions suck when they do that. They should care more about their fans.

And the Norse Mythology thing didn't bother me as much as the first few things. But I guess it just is an aspect of how I didn't like the story of Knights of Ratatosk. But that's mainly in part of the fact that it focuses on such an unlikeable cast of characters. Emil, Marta, and Tenebre.

Tenebre is Jade in dog form and with a vagina.

They needed either Kratos or the real Jade to bitch slap some testosterone into Emil, and let's face it that'd take so much bitch slapping not even those two could pull it off.

The norse mythology thing would of been epic had they a better cast of chracters or just the original cast.

Tenebre is like a botched experiment to try and re-create the beauty that was Jade. It failed miserably however, as Tenebre came off as a metrosexual, 'holier than thou', old foegy.

And Emil could never be Manly. He could have been likeable if they got a different voice actor and had him acting like he was at the end of the game. And even then he would still be a bitch.

I think Kratos and Jade would need help from Yuri in order for Emil to have a fighting chance to make his testicles descend.

Throw Ruca from innocence in there, Emil is like a Ruca clone with absolutely no backbone at all at least Ruca becomes amazing and awesome and his VA is good.

I think if there's one thing that all Tales fans can agree on, is that Emil is one of the biggest bitches the series has ever seen.

Either that, or they can agree that Shirley is the most annoying character that the series has ever seen.

As awesome as Crispin Freeman was, I think the new voice suits him a bit more. He's put his past behind him and taken up leadership of the Lazareno group again, and he's lost that vindictive raspiness because Vharley is dead.

Don't forget, Regal's new VA is Troy Baker, AKA YURI LOWELL.

Not that I had any real problem with Regal's old voice actor, but yeah, I gotta agree that the new one is better.

And Genis's new voice isn't bad either.

Zelos and Lloyd's new voices are pretty bad though...

I also agree with Regal's new voice actor, but wow, I didn't even realize that it was Troy Baker. He's one of my favorite voice actors. I would just like to point out that he also voices Shcneizel in the Code Geass dub.

I didn't even like Ricter.

But when compared to the other new characters they added he's not so bad.

In fact, he does the first one justice.

What would have made me love him is if this scene happened:

Emil: But Ricter! You're the one who told me that 'Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality!!!'
Ricter: ...Oh yeah. I remember that. I just told you that to get you to shut-up. Now open wide so you can give my sword a blowjob.

I have a pretty high tolerance for bitchiness, I never even had a problem with anyone from Abyss (besides ANISE), and alot of people often complain about that game having a lot of bitch.

However Emil even got to me, unlike Luke who goes through phases of likability, or Ruca who grows testicles as the story goes, Emil was a bitch to the end.

Even then Ruca was more tolerable at the beginning than Emil.

Now that I think about it, Tales games have a way of saying: "Oh yeah? Well take this then! See how much worse it could be!?"

Think about it. First we had Collette, who was annoying and bleeding her heart out like no one's business, and people complained about that.

Then Tales went: "Oh yeah!? Well take this then!"

Then they brought in Shirley in Legendia.

And when Abyss came out: "Wow. This main character Luke is a dick and an asshole."

And once again Tales went: "Oh yeah!? Well take this then!"

And then we got Emil.

Who knows what we'll end up with for Graces. One would assume that it's something people complained about from Vesperia. What was the biggest complaint from that?

Luke wasn't terrible. He did have some likeable and human moments. It's just a shame that a lot of the times he was either so much of a dick it was unnatural, and so much of a pussy it was unnatural.

And it wasn't just Luke, all of the characters in Abyss save Jade, Dist, and arguably Mieu were just unlikeable assholes.

Even the main villian was a bitch.

I found him to be a sick freak cause he was all like KILL EVERYONE AND CLONE THEM.... there is something wrong with someone who thinks that is the only way to solve a problem.

Legretta tried harder to save her than he did. And she was just a bitch.

I thought Legretta was kinda cool till she went all bitch fest and killed alot of people, and her obsession with Van's stupid kill everyone and clone them idea.

And shouldn't this discussion take place in the Abyss section.

I didn't mind Marta as much as I did Emil. In fact, if it was just Marta and no Emil, she probably would have been a bearable character.

In fact, it would be somewhat amusing to see Marta fangirl over one person to the next. If she was in the original one, she would join, fangirling over Lloyd, then when they get to Tethealla she would fangirl over Zelos, then when Regal joins, she fangirls over him till he tells everyone about alicia, at which point she realizes that she's a mindless fangirl and goes through her own transition phase.

She would actually be a halfway decent character.
