Dead Rising (2)

Hey, Dead Rising 2 is gettin made. They showed it off at Tokyo Game Show.
What's that? You don't know much about it? Well,

I started my time in the game unarmed and surrounded by zombies. I manage to pick up a golf club and smack a couple of zombies down before being attacked. Moving through the casino, I came across a two-handed sword and used the X button to swing it at the horde. Tapping the button unleashed a three-swing combo that sliced zombies wherever they were hit, parting arm from body, head from neck and, a couple of times, slicing a zombie vertically from crown to crotch.

The sword eventually "wore out", forcing me to scramble for another weapon. This time I picked up a chainsaw. The chainsaw required a tap of the X button for Greene to start. Once running I tapped the X button to swing it through zombies. Unlike the sword, which seemed to attack in small arcs in one direction, the chainsaw laid down zombies in broad circles, quickly cutting them into bits.

After a bit of time, the chainsaw ran out of gas and chugged to a stop. Next I tried a pole that had chainsaws mounted on both ends of it. The chainsaws cut through the crowd like a hot knife through butter zombies. Racking up kills at a surprising rate. When the twin chainsaws died, I ran to a nearby bar where I found a machine gun.

When my pre-set time came to an end the game notified me that I had earned a prize for killing more than 300 zombies in the allotted time. It's unclear if this was just for the press build or the ability to unlock weapons through timed zombie-killing runs will be in the final release.

My prize? A motorized wheelchair with assault rifles mounted to its arms with duct tape.

I just watched gameplay of case zero since its out. I'd much rather get the ps3 version, because I can barely play online on the 360, and i wanna be able to do multiplayer as much as possible. But if cat if you're getting the 360 version then i guess i'll have to also.

Aparently, you keep you XP and stuffs from case zero and it carries over to the real game. Also it has four endings, I could only find A and D. D was bad end, and for the score summary it gave 2,000 points and no credits roll. A was the cannon ending it seemed, gave 15,000 points, and played hardcore (hilarious hardcore ) music through the whole thing. ending AND credits. it was great.

I usually like the PS3 more so I'll be getting that version unless I come up with some reason not to.

I...almost beat the prologue/demo. I kinda got the D ending.

But the local psychopath, Jed, made me think about something.
He said something like this...

To me it sounds like he could be describing the player himself (or herself).
Are the designers trying to say something about the people playing to cause as much carnage as possible? Which is, in a game like this, basically everyone?

Why do you think we do L4D? Because we get to shoot a shit ton of people and not feel bad or worry about the law. And if we feel it, bash them with bats and shovels and shit.

Yeah, but the issue here is that the guy saying these things is a crazy evil person.
I'm just wondering whether there's some kind of message here about people who are into that.

Not that Dead Rising has ever been good with "messages". The moral of the first game was "Americans are fat and stupid."

Also that means when Chuck Greene eats something I'll sometimes shout "STUPID FAT AMERICAN" at him while doing my best Carlito impression.
Y'know, just on principle.

Now forgive me for my ignorance, but who exactly is Frank West? Wasn't he the protagonist of the first game?

Also, is it still worth getting this game for Ps3? Does anyone still play it so we can do co-op? Or should I pass and wait for something else.

Yeah.
What was cool about him was that he wasn't some crazy hero. He was just an angry journalist looking for work.
And enough people thought he was cool enough to replace the DR2 protagonist in a remake. So yeah.

I'd say it'd be worth getting Dead Rising 2, cause it's great and I'd be willing to try the co-op some more, but if there's a remake coming out I guess you may as well wait for that.

Or, better yet, get the first game. You can download it from Xbox LIVE. Worth it for the cutscenes alone.

Yeah, the cutscenes in DR1 are hilarious. I've watched them on youtube countless times.

Already? Wow.

Then again, I JUST got it myself yesterday. I've been playing mostly sandbox mode to get used to everything and such.
Any tips? I'm kinda freshwater fish tossed into the Dead Sea without much of a tutorial.

Not really. If anything don't dick around being obsessed with making combo weapons in story mode unless youve memorized what you need and where they are. Cause Jose ALWAYS did this and it nearly caused many a bad ending.

At the least i'd always get killed by zombies or mercenaries with assult rifles cause I would TRY going into a new area and Jose would be too busy running into a fucking maintenance room. It was.......tiresome to say it in the most civilized way.

Also if you're going for the best ending in the game, you're going to need five doses of zombrex. The last one caught me off guard (and it fucking showed up in the final battle and i nearly cried) it was like:

"Im fighting a bosssssss awww yeah kickass dubstep"

so i died and found the zombrex before fighting the boss lol.

Yeah. Here's what happened to make me quit story mode for now:

"Hey, Kenneth and his step-son. Let me escort you home. Do-dee-do."

"HI. I'M CHUCK. I HAVE A MOTORCYCLE WITH TWO CHAINSAWS. YOU BE DEAD NOW."

"Um...Wait, aren't you-- OH DEAR GOD THE PAIN!!!"

After being unprepared, escorting two dullards, and having the drill bucket as my best weapon, Chuck did me in pretty quickly. So yeah.
I might restart the story mission. The time goes down way too fast in this. Like, it took me 4 hours to get to Kenneth and his son in law. And it was only a few loading screens away.

You have alot more time in this one than in DR1 to do shit!!!!!

But yeah Chuck's a bitch. I made him drive into a corner and he got stuck. Then i beat the shit outta him
