Sengoku Basara RP?

So the idea was tossed around between a few people and myself, and I was wondering if anyone would want to try out an RP. All of the current ones are basically dead except Persona and Reborn (which just started) but i'll just say they're "On hold" cuz I DO want to see Vepseria and Pokemon go somewhere. Devil Survivor i can live without.

Anywho, the basic concept would be that you're newly enlisted into your choice of

The Eastern Army (Ieyasu's Forces)
The Western Army (Mitsunari's Forces)
Uesugi's Forces (Kenshin)
Saika Mercenary Faction (Magoichi Saika)
Takeda (Shingen/Yukimura)
Motochika's Pirates
The Maeda Clan (i guess you'd just be born a maeda from the start or something)

(jump me if i missed any IMPORTANT ones. When i say important i dont mean ones like Ujimasa or SHIFUCKINGMAZU)

You'd start off just working your way up through helping lead your forces to victory in fights, then eventually be at your Lord's side (Kinda like Tadakatsu to Ieyasu or Yoshitsugu to Mitsunari). At that point you can freely converse with your lord and what not (but in no way will you replace their already existing right hand men like Tadakatsu/Yoshitsugu/Sasuke/Kasuga) and just develop a bond or try to help them with whatever issues they have.

This is just a start, i'd like others to pitch more ideas to make this a solid thing

i can't think of any ideas right now but it sounds cool. hopefully we can a lot of people to do this RP since most of the other rps are failing.

don't play it but want to help where I can. don't wanna see reborn fail and i wanna see pokemon take off, but it all comes down to member involvment imo,

Seems interesting, and I think I have a good idea for a story on this. Anyway here's a more extensive list on the various armies:

Story: It is the 16th century and Japan has been engulfed in turmoil. The fall of the current Shogunate has left the land divided under the banner of the various warlords, who now battle for complete control of the land.
Now warriors of the Rising Sun, take up your arms in service to your lords and fight for the honor of your clan. Take up your lord's banner and raise it for the world to see.
Or maybe you have ambitions of your own. Will you reach your hand out across the land and grasp it firmly for yourself? Or is there another besides your lord you wish to elevate to greatness?

Playable Clans:
Date Clan
Forces of Oshu. These gang-like soldiers are known for their rough riding and rebellious attitudes. They are lead by their boss Date Masamnune the "One-Eyed Dragon", a cool and charismatic leader who's always ready for a fight. Together with his "Right Eye" the disciplined and reliable Katakura Kojuro, the Date Clan set off to take the land for themselves.

Takeda Clan
Forces of Kai. Valiant warriors who take pride in their loyalty to their lord, Takeda Shingen the wise and courageous "Tiger of Kai" and his young apprentice the hot-blooded Sanada Yukimura. Their cavalry are said to be unstoppable and are feared throughout the land and the Sanada Ninja Corps lead by Sarutobi Sasuke are known to be a group of highly capable Ninjas.

Maeda Clan
Forces of Kaga. These soldiers are as close as family and proudly serve their lord and lady, the ever-hungry wildman Maeda Toshiie and the kind and nurturing Matsu.

Uesugi Clan
Forces of Echigo. Well trained soldiers who battle with precision and elegance. They are led by Uesugi Kenshin, the "War God of Echigo" a man whose swift swordplay is only second to his swift mind. Together with his blade, the fierce kunouichi Kasuga, Kenshin fights for both peace in Echigo and to have a decisive showdown with the Tiger of Kai.

Azai Clan
Forces of Omi. Under the brave and noble Azai Nagamasa these soldiers have sworn to fight in the name of justice to erase all evil from this world.

Tokugawa Clan
Forces of Mikawa. Soldiers united under the young but ambitious Tokugawa Ieyasu who battle behind the Mighty Samurai Honda Tadakatsu.

Chosokabe Clan
Forces of Shikoku. Pirates who roam the seas in search of adventure and treasure. They are known for their powerful if not unorthodox machinery developed by their captain, the wild and fearless Chosokabe Motochika.

Kono Clan
Forces of Iyo. Soldiers who look after and protect their leader, the cheerful yet naive Oracle Tsuruhime.

Saika Faction
Mercenary forces. Soldiers with advanced gun technology who offer their services only to those who they deem worthy. They are lead by Saika Magoichi, a proud woman who lives her life for the battle.

whatever you make work? most of the people have the same last name as the commander (in your case, Chosokabe) cuz same family clan and shit like that

Ill be a part of the Tokugawa Clan, just because Ieyasu is epic. But before i make my chara i need some basic guidelines for it as iv never played or watched. But I have a game quite simalar to it (Samurai warrior 3). And iv watched some things on it.

Are we allowed to play as canon characters or are we making up our own character?

I believe Matsunaga Hisahide should play a big role if not the main villain.

A mix of both. You'll mainly be making up your own character but the canon ones will be handed out.
And don't worry, the "Villain of the Warring States" will make an appearance.

So the big baddies will be Matsunaga, Oda and Hideyoshi?

Or are we gonna follow a specific time period? Like is it gonna be based on basara 3, where Tsuruhime's forces are present, but like, before Hideyoshi is killed by Ieyasu?

Bow And Arrow- The bow looks lsimialr to a eagles wing. The arrows are sharper then normal arrows

Daggers- The daggers are mostly for throwing at a closer distance. they have a purple blade and are dipped in poison.

Katana- The katana is like a normal katana but dipped in posion and the guard is in small eagle wings.

History:

Kuya was born into a royal house. They were mighty archers and have never went to guns. To them guns were to simple and to easy to mess up with. So Kuya grew up learning how to use a bow and arrow. He soon became the strongest in his family. After his father died Kuya took his armour and weapons and took the family over. He also trained with daggers and swords. He developed a special skill to shoot his sword from his bow. Ieyasu soon came to him with reguards of help. Kuya helped him and remained on his side forever sence then. Kuya and his archers have never lost a battle that they were included in.

It's gonna go through all the major periods but still have factions that showed up later like Magoichi and Tsuruhime's forces. I kinda had it planned like this:

Prologue (Feeling out arc): vs Matsunaga.
Act One: vs Oda.
Act Two: vs Toyotomi.
Act Three: East vs West (no clear villain).

EDIT: Also Draco. Good concept but I'm gonna post the character guides later tonight so just hold that thought.

IMHO Draco your character seems a little OP. Archery for long distance, daggers for swift kills and katana for close range? That sounds like youre invincible and can take the advantage of ANY situation. Every person should have a few weaknesses/drawbacks. Like how Ieyasu and Hideyoshi both rape everything with their fists, meaning theyre kinda screwed against archers/gunmen and have to rely on other allies who cover said weakness. At some point we're probably gonna have to help each other out, not be a one man wrecking crew

^ yeah I have to agree. dont take this the wrong way but u have the same problem w/ the reborn rp. i cant give you upgrades or interesting fights if u dont tone it down. not too late to give ur character some depth, maybe a sensitive backstory or something just saying. that said i have an idea for this rp just waitin on the guidelines, looking foward to it

I'd be more than willing to join if I could be Date and Matsunaga. I roleplay as Date currently somewhere else and I've been in love with Matsunaga's character since season two. I'm all for him being in this so long as he isn't jobbed or seen as some fodder enemy. Not saying that's what you're planning or anything. Although I would suggest putting Matsunaga last and have him make sporadic appearances throughout your acts, doing things to benefit himself and set up for his main plan, collecting treasures and making Xanatos Gambits.

How is his character overpowered when you have dudes who can stop giant land tanks, punch away seas, survive explosions head on, survive punches that have been stated to kill a normal man and so on? Everyone in Basara are super humans. His character doesn't seem to have any superhuman stats unless he forgot to add them, just seems to have the ability to use versatility in his fights.

Um Hideyoshi eats archers for breakfast. Killed two armies of archers with one casual swipe. I honestly believe that the character is fine, just versatile and it's not like he'll be able to use all of those weapons at once or even be able to handle every other character that challenges him. I'm betting Kojuro would still be able to own him.

A fair point. It's mainly residual tension from another RP we have going on.
Actually when you put it that way his guy seems a little underpowered.
