Re: General Final Fantasy Thread. Ooh, soft!
I checked to make sure, and yes, Aeris and Red XIII had gained a level even though they weren't in my party. Yaaay
I really hate it when people who aren't in your group don't gain XP.
This is because it bothers me a lot when anyone on my group is underleveled, so I'm forced to train a lot more to keep everyone on the same level. And I hate hate hate hate training
So I can use whatever party I want without caring about their level! Yes
And I can use Aeris without being concerned about wasting XP, too

Then instead of playing an RPG, why dont you just watch a play through so you dont have to train? I LOVE training. Though I DO fucking hate when Inactive characters dont get exp. FF8 is a total nightmare with that, because its like "here's your three good characters and your worthless ones!" and obviously your party will have the 3 good ones. Then it just so happens that you have to have a 2nd party with your 3 shitty characters (or sometimes selphie will be forced into the non-squall party and she'll carry the whole team on her own.)
9 has enough switchage to where you can get ample training for each character, and the final dungeon you can even (finally) remove zidane from the party if you wish to train others.
13 completely fixes the whole xp issue, by having EVERYONE get CP, even if snow is somewhere humping a rock shouting "SERAH" out in the middle of nowhere, while Lightning and Hope courageously battle the military alone.
Re: General Final Fantasy Thread. Ooh, soft!
Keep in mind that 8 punishes you for power leveling since enemies level with you. I actually prefer having lower leveld members for that reason.
Anyway, I've played every main FF game except 9. My friend has that and I'll borrow it over the summer if I can.
My favorite was the 6th because I liked alot of the characters/classes, the tragic feel to the plot and mother fuckin KEFKA. I love you you crazy bastard.

Oh man, I get to borrow my friend's copy of FFVII over the summer, and possibly another FF... Also, when I get a job, I'll be able to get Advent Children Complete (which supposedly has more plot and is even moar Best Cutscene Ever. Also information that will prove useful because...)
SHAMELESS PLUG for Edge's Call (tentative title), which is a webcomic I'm going to doeventually(never) STARTING THIS SUMMER. It's set in Midgar and Edge starting a year after the end of FFVII, and is about a group of people just trying to survive after the sky fell on them all. I have some story down. Some of you have read it. If anyone wants to help critique it (I want opinions before I start drawing stuff) please PM me.

Also, I finally got Yuffie.
I somehow managed to answer every question wrong
Except for the first one. But I made up for that by trying to use the save point
As a result I spent several excruciating hours running around in the bushes fighting Yuffie repeatedly
Me wrote:I shouldn't use my limits on her cause that'd be a waste. I can beat her with regular attacks just fine.
And then, after failing to perform CPR on a half-drowned girl and being forced to listen to THE SCARIEST MUSIC EVER JESUS CHRIST I HATE THIS SONG, I got electrocuted and thrown around by a dolphin while being forced to listen to a marching band play the same couple of notes over and over and over again.Me, several hours later wrote:GUESS WHAT BITCH
BLADE BEAM
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Then I failed at marching. This is the worst game ever

Also Masu, I have been playing 9 but haven't beat it yet. So I don't have an opinion on it.

you can have an opinion on a game you havent beaten.
at least you've played it. This makes you a not "LIJ@R#WQO)R(F_()UDIOJ KILL YOU"

Re: General Final Fantasy Thread. Ooh, soft!
Im sad. To defeat sad here is another bucket of quotes
- Spoiler:
- Barret: We need a group leader for our journey. 'Course only me could be the leader.
Tifa: You think so…?
Aerith: It would have to be Cloud.
Barret: $*$&%……awwright.
- Spoiler:
- Cloud: ……I used to want to be like Sephiroth so I joined SOLDIER. After working with Sephiroth on several missions, we became friends.
Barret: You call that a friend?
- Spoiler:
- Cloud: Sephiroth's strength is unreal. He is far stronger in reality then any story you might have heard about him.
Aerith: So… Where do you come in?
Cloud: Me? I was mesmerized by the way Sephiroth fought.
Tifa: ………
- Spoiler:
- Cloud: Magic……a mysterious power…
Sephiroth: Ha, ha, ha!
Cloud: Did I say something funny?
Sephiroth: A man once told me never to use an unscientific term such as mysterious power! It shouldn't even be called 'magic'! I still remember how angry he was.
Cloud: What was that?
Sephiroth: Hojo of Shinra, Inc. … An inexperienced man assigned to take over the work of a great scientist. He was a walking mass of complexes.
- Spoiler:
- Rude: Do you know who I am?
Cloud: From the Turks, right?
Rude: Well if you know, then this won't take long. It's difficult to explain what the Turks do…
Cloud: Kidnapping, right?
Rude: To put it negatively…you could say that.
- Spoiler:
- Tseng: No need to tell them about our orders. Now go. Don't forget to file your report.
Elena: Oh! Right! Very well, Rude and I will go after Sephiroth, who's heading for Junon Harbor!
Tseng: …Elena. You don't seem to understand.
- Spoiler:
- Rude: (to Cloud's group) …Reno said he wanted to see you after the injuries you gave him healed. He wants to show his affection for you all…with a new weapon.
- Spoiler:
- Priscilla: Who are you guys? Are you members of the Shinra, Inc.?
Barret: No! You got it all wrong! We're fighting against the Shinra!
Cloud: …that's how it is.
Priscilla: I don't believe you! Get out of here!
Cloud: Great…
- Spoiler:
- Man: Priscilla!! (checking her heartbeat) Nope…she's not breathing… Hey, that's
it! (to Cloud) Young man, CPR, now!
Cloud: Mouth to mouth!?
Barret: C'mon Cloud.
Cloud: But, she's just a girl……
Tifa: Cloud, what are you going to do?
Man: What? You don't know how? Come over here, I'll show you.
- Spoiler:
- Mysterious Voice: …That reminds me.
Cloud: You again? …Who are you?
Mysterious Voice: …You'll find out soon. ……But more importantly, 5 years ago…
- Spoiler:
- Priscilla: I heard that they're rehearsing the reception for the new Shinra president.
Barret: Rufus!? I gotta pay my respects.
Priscilla: Grandpa and grandma told me this beach was beautiful when they were small. But after the Shinra built that city above, the sun stopped shining here, and the water got polluted… I was raised on that story and hate Shinra so much, I could die!
Aerith: You think Rufus is thinking about crossing the ocean from here, too?
Tifa: What? Does that mean Sephiroth already crossed the ocean?
Red XIII: Cloud, didn't you finish Rufus off?
Barret: We gotta get to the town up there… Mebbe we could climb the tower?
Priscilla: No! No! There's a high voltage current running underneath the tower. Don't wander near it, it's dangerous! But…you might be able to if Mr. Dolphin helps you. Follow me!
Tifa: High voltage tower…… I guess this means Cloud'll be all right.
Aeris: Yeah, better leave it to Cloud!
Red XIII: We're counting on you, Cloud!
Cloud: Hey!! Wait a second!
- Spoiler:
- Commander: You remember the Greeting procedure,
right!? …the look on your face says you forgot. All right, I'll show you again! Do just like we do.
Soldier 1: Commander!! We'll help too! This is how to do it!
Soldier 2: We'll sing too!
Commander: All right! Show 'em!!
Soldier 1: Now, march!! This's the Welcoming March!
Soldier 2: Then! I'll sing along with you! Quietly--!! Aaaaah! Aaaaah! Hey, come on now. Now!
- Spoiler:
- Rufus: How's the job? What happened to the Airship?
Heidegger: The long range airship is still being prepared. It should be ready
in about three more days. Gya haa haa!
Rufus: Even the Air Force's Gelnika?
Heidegger: ……Gya haa haa!
Rufus: Stop that stupid horse laugh. Things are different than when father was in charge.
Heidegger: Gya…
Rufus: Is the ship ready?
Heidegger: Yes sir, we'll get it ready quickly.
- Spoiler:
- Commander: Hey! Hey you! You messing with the army?
Cloud: Who cares?
Commander: You're too lazy!! No break for you!!
- Spoiler:
- Barret: Hey, wait. You don't think that suspicious character is… Sephiroth!?
Tifa: Really!?
Barret: How the hell am I supposed to know!?
Cloud: …Let's find out.
Red XIII: It's the most logical thing to do. Then, who's going to go?
Yuffie: N, not me… I don't even like Sephiroth anyway.
- Spoiler:
- Barret: Damn! Sure is hot here! But I sure feel better now that I can say good-bye to this sailor suit. Yo listen up!! Y'all be sure to mingle like regular folks here!
Aerith: Oh, too bad. I liked Barret's sailor suit. He looked so cute.
Barret: ……What'ya mean "cute"?
Tifa: Right…well, uh…Barret, why don't you use that sailor suit for pajamas? Right, Cloud?
Cloud: Keep your mind on Sephiroth. Remember, this isn't a vacation. We're here after Sephiroth. I'm going on ahead.
Barret: Hmmph, Cloud. You're the one, who's always hangin' around wastin' time. I'm going to skip this resort!
Red XIII: …puff…puff… Would you kindly hurry? The heat is drying my nose.
Yuffie: Yeah, mine, too!!
- Spoiler:
- Rufus: I heard Sephiroth was on board.
Heidegger: ……Yes.
Rufus: And it seems Cloud and the others were on board, too.
Heidegger: ……Yes.
Rufus: They all slipped through…… You messed up big this time, Heidegger.
Heidegger: I'm ashamed of myself.
Rufus: Is that all you can do…? Give one-word answers and apologize for everything?
Sailor: Ready for departure, sir!!
Rufus: (to Heidegger) ……Do something. I'll be expecting results.
- Spoiler:
- Hojo: No, I remember you all now…… Yes, yes. I remembered now. It's been a long time, Cloud.
Cloud: Hojo……
Hojo: Sometimes you just gotta do something like this.
Cloud: ……What are you doing?
Hojo: It should be obvious, I'm getting a tan.

As long as I'm looking at it...
This website contains very detailed...reviews of basically all the Final Fantasy games. They are often pretty funny, which is why I'm reading them.
The author describes how Final Fantasy VIII's plot was conceived of.
Also I found a picture or two worth saving in my image folder of the damned. Like this one

And then he goes into detail.Eventually, Sakaguchi was fed up. He had Kitase, Nojima, Hiroyuki, Nomura, and Uematsu all dragged into a conference room, supplied them with a week's worth of bottled oolong tea, Oronamin C, shrink-wrapped convenience mart sandwiches, and cigarettes, then locked them in, telling them they had three days to either come up with a plan for Final Fantasy VIII or tender their letters of resignation.
What nobody knew at the time, however, was that there was a gas leak in this particular conference room.
Also I found a picture or two worth saving in my image folder of the damned. Like this one

Re: General Final Fantasy Thread. Ooh, soft!
Well here's my opinion on the games that I have played for this series
1. Well it was what got the franchise started, but personally it just doesn't really click with me
2. Sucked
3. Liked the job system but personally it was a middle tier game in the series
4. Too many characters getting shuffled around for my liking
5. My personal favorite, the story maybe a bit generic but the Job system and the combat system make it one of the best games
6. Ugh.... as much as people find this to be the best game for the series before the move to Sony, I can't say that it was my favorite, it was a good game, but the World of Ruin segment made me feel like I was playing Phantasy Star II again (which isn't a good thing).
7. I understand why it was such a successful game, personally it was a great game that did enough experimenting on the combat system but kept itself from being too different.
8. Now unlike 7, 8 was too different, but personally what made the game for me was Squall and the storyline overall, it was gripping enough for me to stay around for a while.
9. (MaSu is going to kill me) I hated it, the game felt too story heavy and just didn't really give me a lot of time to fight, also the presentation didn't really agree with me either.

@ Joker
What made 6 such a good game was the variety of characters to use, as well as the 4 person party. With 12 characters, you HAVE to be able to find a party you like. Also, I feel it had one of the best final dungeons in an RPG. Ever. Seriously, it was amazing. And the final battle too. I HATE that most games have more characters then can fit in your party, but somehow during the boss battle where the ENTIRE PARTY IS PRESENT, only the three people on screen do anything.
And what made 7 good were interesting characters, an unpredictable storyline(at least compared to others), and a great system. The Materia system was most definitely the best FF system. Also, Mako Addiction Cloud is the best.
