Re: E3 2010: June 14-17
Pretty much what they said.
Nintedo's preformance these past two years was abysmal, so...
It's just pattern recognition, really.
And they'res nothing wrong with the new Zelda, but Nintendo's failing so hard at this point that it's just not enough. They need to come up with something more than the occasional sequel, or I'm going to go from not caring to really not caring.
That's where Twilight Princess comes in...of course it got a lot of hype. It was the Wii's system seller, for crying out loud!
And it was pretty good, but...I kinda felt like it was trying to be like Ocarina of Time a bit too much.
It'd be cool if they ressurected an old franchise, even...but the last update of an old franchise they tried was Metroid. Again. (Other M)
Okay, and Punch-Out. BUT STILL
Pikmin 3 is a glimmer of hope, though. I'll give them that.

Hell yeah! ...But the odds of that happening are just about zero.Mufasa wrote:However, I'd like to see Nintendo pull something new outside of their main franchises (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc etc) and come out with a new hardcore game that isn't going to suck.

Well to anyone who had wanted to watch the Valve press conference you are currently fucked up the ass.
Valve press conference canceled
Kinda surprised at this move, but given their recent clusterfuck of maintaining what is going on, I wouldn't be surprised if something is up.

Re: E3 2010: June 14-17
Yeah. Way to go Nintendo. Hopefully you have some tricks up your sleeve, otherwise you can kiss my customer loyalty goodbye.
FUCKING LOCALIZE GRACES YOU C----S!!!!!!
Edit: Also, my manager called. She said I have off tomorrow, but I have to work tuesday instead. But I really wanted to see the 360 conference live anyway more than the other two, so it doesn't matter all that much. Still it would be nice if requested days off would MEAN something. But it can't be helped, because every other competent stock guy at my job can't make it. One is out on a double hernia operation, another has Jury duty, and another just got back from vacation, but he has another job and can't work that day.
But whatever. I talk like I'm the only one who's ever been fucked over by my job before. And that this is the first time they fucked me over. I guess it upsets me more cause I actually DID everything I was supposed to do in order to make it work and it didn't. So the blame is completely out of my hands. Then again, I guess I COULD just bail and quit. So I'm not really FREE of blame, but I'm hardly doing the wrong thing.
[/rant] Ignoring the past two paragraphs of hatred, I'm looking forward to Microsoft's conference. Last year they pulled a bunch of stuff we weren't expecting that were pretty cool, and here's hoping to see them do it again. Again, it's the one I wanted to see, cause I don't have a PS3, so I won't get the most out of watching that, and it'll be a cold day in hell when Nintendo comes out with something exciting for the Wii. And anything for the DS will pale in comparison to Golden Sun DS. I guess they COULD announce that again, but it would lose it's effect.
Edit Edit: I love how the one thing I'm most excited for on the Nintendo announcements is Golden Eye, a game that was out over 10 years ago. Granted, I never played it, so it would pretty much be a new game for me, but Jesus fucking christ Nintendo. That's the best you have?

Re: E3 2010: June 14-17
E3's cool stuff is starting today, because Microsoft doesn't want to start with a boring old press conference.
According to this link here, they'll be showing off Project Natal at 9:30 EST.
If you haven't heard of it, it's their magic motion sensor camera "which lets gamers play with their body". Hm.
They showed it off at last year's E3 for a little while.
This time, they hired Cirque Du Soleil to help demonstrate how it works. That'll be...interesting?

Yeah, that's what I said last year, and they gave me a device you put on your finger that measures your pulse.Mufasa wrote:Hopefully you have some tricks up your sleeve, otherwise you can kiss my customer loyalty goodbye.

Re: E3 2010: June 14-17
Oh yeah. BTW, project Natal can fuck itself honestly. Motion controls are one of the biggest flaws on the wii. ((The biggest one is the awful selection of games, which granted Microsoft doesn't have.))
Gamers play games to relax and unwind. No one unwinds by flailing their arms about. Call me a lazy fat white boy if you want, but I can only play Red Steel 2 for about an hour before I get tired of it and go back to Persona/Symphonia.

Yeah, pretty much. Not to mention, you don't get any feedback from waving your arms around in the air, but there's a real physical sensation behind using a controller. Or...well, you get the idea...

Re: E3 2010: June 14-17
Indeed. Vibration actually does help with immersion into a game. There was a point while playing Smash Bros Melee that I actually felt like I was directly controlling Roy, rather than mashing a bunch of buttons.
Still, I'm glad they're getting the project Natal stuff out of the way tonight, so tomorrow they can focus on the more important manly gaming things.

FUCK MOTION SENSOR CONTROLLERS
The only way you'll get me on board with that, is if it has physical feedback. And by that I mean I want a controller that will SUCK ME OFF, CAUSE MOTION SENSOR CONTROLLERS ARE ONE BIG JERKOFF MECHANIC

Only the words: 'physical feedback'. Though I am using phrases that he would cause I was just watching it. but I wasn't really ripping him off.
