The Pokemon Roleplay

Setting: New Bark Town. Professor Elm's lab.


“Erherherherm!” Professor Elm said, clearing his throat. “Why, hello there Miss. Reeves. I suppose you’re wondering why I asked you down here today. Well, I need an errand done, and I’m too busy here at the lab to do it myself. As you can guess, I’m sure, I would like to ask you to do it yourself. I’m willing to lend you one of the pokemon I have here at the lab. I asked permission from your parents, and they’re fine with it if you are. What do you say, Miss. Reeves?”

"Ah! Yes, sir! I'd be more than happy to, I promise I won't let you down! What's the errand?", Jenna replied readily.

"Y-yes. Well I need you to deliver this package to a colleage of mine; Professor Oak from Pallet Town in the Kanto region. He's in a small house on Route 31, near Violet City. It's a two day trip, so once you get to Cherrygrove City, I suggest you take a break there. Ahem, but of course it's up to you, what you plan to do!" Elm babbled on to himself about the contents of the package and how he hopes Oak will make use of it.

"Oh, er. Alright..", she replied taking the package. "Excuse me but, where's the pokemon you mentioned earlier?"

Meanwhile, in a nearby house...

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

Michael groaned and sat up. This was his first day in New Bark Town, having just moved in yesterday. As usual, he had been forced to ride in the back of a moving van. Ugh.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Gastly could you turn that off for me?" he mumbled, still half-asleep. A cloud that had been floating in one of the corners of the room yawned, and hovered down to the alarm clock and turned it off...somehow.

"Alright, I may as well look around my new hometown. Maybe there'll be a cool cave or something."

"Hm?" Elm said, startled out of his own thoughts by Jenna's question. "Oh! Yes! I apologie. Here it is!" Elm reached into a drawer and pulled out a pokeball. He released the pokemon from the ball, an Eevee popping out of it. "It's an Eevee. One of the only pokemon that can evolve into a wide variety of different types. The perfect pokemon to express which path you will take on your journey. Very symbolic, if I do say so myself."

"Aww, it's so cute!", Jenna squealed as she picked up and hugged the Eevee. "Thanks Professor. Alright, I guess I'll be on my way then.". Jenna returned the Eevee to it's ball and placed it in her bag. "I won't let you down Professor! I'll be back as soon as I can!", Jenna said running out the labratory doors.

"Hm...I hope she'll be alright with just that Eevee.....I COULD have given her the Rhydon.....Nah. She'll be fine. Back to my studies!" Professor Elm immediately forgot about Jenna and went back to his studies.

"Alright, Mom. I'm back, but I gotta go now! Love you, Bye!", Jenna said running in her house's kitchen. She turned back to the door to make her exit. "Honey, wait! What's the rush? You're not even going to have lunch?", Jenna's mother asked from the kitchen sink, filled with dishes. "No, sorry. I'll get something on the way! Gotta go! I'll be back in a couple days, Love you bye!" Jenna said as she quickly hugged her mother and dashed out the door. "W-wait! What--....And she's gone. She seems to be really excited about this. I hope she stays safe.."

In a nearby forest, there is a boy walking around in circles in the bushes.

"Damnit, I've been doing this for hours"

He had heard that certain Pokemon only inhabit certain patches of grass, as such he had appeared early that morning in an attempt to find the Pokemon that resided here.

"Frick, I'll never be a master if I don't catch atleast the Regional Poke'dex"

After several hours he gave up on his quest and started walking back to the Town he'd been staying in.

"YAWN!" Mike McReary said, waking himself up. In a daze he looked around. "....How the hell did I get here?" He rubbed his stubble with his free hand. His other hand clutched a paper bag, which concealed it's contents. He put the bag to his mouth and realized that it was empty. "Dammit all." He felt something nudge at his side. "Eh? Oh. Hey Metalmech." Mike's Aron sat at his side, looking up at him. "Did I forget to put you back in your ball? Sorry about that bud." Mike stumbled to his feet, clutching his head. "Ow....." He threw his bottle to the side carelessly, hoping that no one would care. "Ugh. What the hell happened? Last I remembered I was in Cherrygrove. How'd I end up here? I don't suppose you know, eh Metal?" His Aron glared up at him. "Huh. I must have been chased here last night. Guess the feds have nothing better to do than chase down an underage alcoholic now that Team Rocket's been disbanded for the past three years. Oh well. I don't need you judging me along with everyone else in the world. Get back in your ball." Mike held out Metalmech's pokeball, and after a quick grunt, the Aron returned to his home.

"Alright! Time to deliver that package!!" Jenna said happily as she ran out of New Bark town.

She soon stopped and took a look around, her surroundings unknown to her. "Uh...wait...Where is Violet City...?" She asked herself as she continued to look. "Ooh, curse me and my terrible sense of direction...", she mumbled as she walked off in a random direction, hoping it was the right was to Cherrygrove.

"Ugh. My head." Mike stumbled. He rubbed his head as he walked around to try and reorient himself. "Hm. Maybe I should head to the Kanto region. I probably should stay away from Cherrygrove for a while..." Mike closed his eyes as he walked and mused over his situation until he ran smack into another pedestrian. "ACK! Hey! Watch where you're going you pri-! Eh?" He looked at the ground to see a young girl lying there.

Sothe started walking back to New Bark Town.

As he was walking he started wondering how exactly it got it's name.

Was it founded by a guy with Poochyena fetish or something?

He cast such disturbing thoughts aside and continued towards the town.

"Damnit if I knew being a trainer involved this much walking I would have stayed in school"

"Oww..." Jenna mumbled while getting up and dusting herself off. "Ah! Excuse me! I-I'm sorry! I wasn't paying attention!", She said as she bowed when she saw the man standing in front of her.

"Er. Nah. Don't worry about it." Mike said. "What's little girl like you doing out here? You lose your parents or something?" He rubbed his head and adjusted his hat.

Sothe entered town.

A man who'd seen him setting out at 4 AM shouted to him "Hey you catch that Poke'mon you wanted"

Sothe stopped.

"..."

"...no..."

Before the man could reply Sothe was on his way again.

He had every intention of returning to the hotel and sleeping until noon...

"H-Hey! I'm not a little girl! I'm 18!", Jenna said irritated by the man's statement. "But..no. I'm running an errand for someone. I need to get to Violet City. But I can't even find Cherrygrove.. I moved here a little while back, I don't know where I'm going...I'm lost..". She explained as she looked at the ground and twindled her fingers.

"....No way you're 18." Mike said, completely ignoring the girl's plight. "What's your name, kid?"

"Um..Jenna, Jenna Reeves...What about you?" Jenna asked as she continued to twindle her fingers.

Sothe enetered his hotel room and crashed on his bed.

And he slept.

"Mike McReary. My friends call me Mickie. .....Call me Mike." He said, his eyes glazing over due to his hangover. "So..You said you're trying to get to Cherrygrove?"

Michael made sure to grab his exploration backpack and his two occupied pokeballs before leaving the house. It was still early morning. Since it was summer, he had made sure to wear light colors, in this case a white t-shirt and some tan shorts.
Gastly, who was floating alongside him, was unable to wear light colors, but the heat never seemed to bother him. In fact, nothing seemed to bother him.

"May as well see what there is to do around here," said Michael, glancing at his town map.

"Nothing much, just a few houses... but the Pokemon lab might be worth a look, eh?"
Gastly did a somersault, which Michael took to mean yes.

On his way to the lab, he noticed a couple of people about his age talking about something, but decided not to interrupt. If they also lived here, there was no doubt he'd see them again later.

"Ah...Yeah. But I got lost...I have a bad sense of direction..." Jenna replied as she eyed her surroudings. "Do you know how to get to Cherrygrove?"

"Um..." He looked around. "Yeah. I just came from there....apparently. Though, I probably shouldn't head back there so soon..."
