The Pokemon Roleplay

"I'll tell you what Falkner, I'll fight this guy. If I win, you let Jenna fight you. If I lose, we leave quietly. Deal?" Mike declared. By now everyone in the gym was watching them.

"Hm...If that's alright with Michael." Falkner said, looking to the trainer and his Gastly.

"Uh..."

...

"Uh..."
He looked at Gastly, who spun in a circle.
"Okay..."

"Your rules." Mike said.

"Er, ok...Pichu, I guess we just wait...", Jenna said as she stepped back.

"Hurry dodge it alakazam!" Alakazam just barely dodge the milktank.(now I just have to plan ahead to have the cow get hit by my attack)

In Michael's opinion, the fight was already over.
He'd seen this guy battle- he appeared to have quite a bit of experience. And of course, Michael himself was pretty inexperienced.

His eyes narrowed. "Bet you anything he can tell I suck just from looking," he muttered to Gastly. "That guy's just using us to get his friend to Falkner more quickly. Rrgh! Why'd I agree to this anyway... I may as well just throw the match, as far as I possibly ca-"

"You think I should what now?"

...

"Well...all right..."

Michael looked up at the challenger. "It'll be a one-on-one battle. You're probably in a hurry."

"Alright then. Unfortunetly for you, my friend's dream here relies on me winning here. So I'm not pulling any punches." He grabbed his pokeball at his side. "I'm using my strongest on your ass. Take em out! Inferno!" He tossed his pokeball, and out of it came Mike's Quilava. "Ready?"

vs. Mike McReary, Suspicious Assailant

"Yeah... I'm ready."

Michael looked over at Gastly, sighed, and shrugged his shoulders.

Gastly immediately soared into the arena and began bobbing up and down in the air.

"Let's go."

"Well, this'll be interesting at least...", Jenna said as she sat down on the sidelines.

"Alright. You pick rules, I make the first move. Inferno! Flame wheel!" Fire circled around his Quilava and shot out at Gastly.

In one second, Gastly had soared high in the air, well away from the fire.
In another, he was falling straight down at Quilava, dark energies bursting from his eyes.

"He's got the aiming part down for you Inferno! Flamethrower!" Bursts of fire came from Inferno's mouth.

"Keep at it with Rollout Milktank!" Whitney said, her Milktank swerving around, keeping from getting hit.

Gastly's Night Shade and Inferno's Flamethrower engulfed both Pokemon at point blank.
Gastly continued descending.
He flew straight through Inferno's chest and out his back, stopped a short distance away, and began spinning. Of course, he had taken a direct hit from Flamethrower.
The fires on the Quilava's back probably hadn't helped, either. (80%HP)

*waits for milktank to get closer* "Now Alakazam Use psychic on the cow!" (I just need to distract it for a little while at least)

"Hm. Nice move. Well Inferno, physical attacks won't work on him, so we'll be focusing a lot on the fire techs, so he'll be sure to keep that in mind. We gotta keep him from getting to us though. Use agility and flame wheel. But don't send off flame wheel yet! Use it as a shield, if he comes charging at you, incinerate him!" Quilava took damage from Night shade though, equal to his level.. (73%)

"Alright Milktank! Use Bounce again!" Whitney's Milktank bounced in the air, avoiding the attack, and went to go crashing down on Alakazam again.

Gastly stopped spinning abruptly and sent a barrage of Shadow Balls at his opponent.

"Hm. Seems like the pokemon's doing all the work. Inferno, keep running! Keep up with agility, then use Heat Wave!" Inferno avoided most of the shadow balls, taking minimal hits, then the fires on his back burned, sending out a heat wave to damage Gastly. (65%)

Gastly effortlessly soared above the heat wave.
He floated back down to ground level, tipped his head to one side, and stuck his tongue out at Inferno.

Michael was grinning.

"Heh. Don't get an inflated head over one good move. A trainer must keep on his toes. FIRE BLAST!" Mike's Inferno breathed in and then let loose a fire blast, straight in Gastly's direction. "Don't let up! Use flamethrower to increase the strength and spread of the fire!" Inferno let loose another stream of flames, feeding into the Fire blast, heading for Gastly.

The charged Fire Blast hit Gastly with extreme force, exploding in a massive fireball that sent sparks cascading to the floor. (40%)
When the smoke cleared, Gastly was no longer visible.

Michael was still grinning. He whispered something to himself.
"Payback."

Suddenly, Gastly was right behind Inferno, seemingly twice as large as before, unleashing a howling storm of dark energy that had been amplified greatly by the force of Inferno's Fire Blast.

"What was that?!" Mike excalimed as Inferno howled. "You alright Inferno?!" Inferno was stammering, but still standing. (35%) "......Not bad."

Michael nodded once slowly at his opponent.

Gastly was preparing to bound forward at Inferno.
"Caution," said Michael.
He stopped mid-bound and spun away from the pained Pokemon, but not before unleashing Spite- eliminating Inferno's use of Flamethrower, the last move used.

"Hm...Gotta think of a plan...." Mike thought to himself. "Alright, I got one. Inferno! Use bite!" Inferno chomped at the Gastly in front of him.

He fell to his knees and roared his boundless fury unto the heavens.



All of that took place inside Michael's head in one second. On the outside, his eye began to twitch a little bit.

Gastly had taken a heavy hit (10%).
It was almost as though he was echoing his partner's distress.
He spun wildly around the room as the screams of a thousand tortured souls seemed to tear themselves loose from the very ground. Blood appeared to drip from the walls and ceiling. An image of Satan himself appeared and danced a merry jig.

This was Confuse Ray.

"Hm. Inferno! Heat Wave! Pour all your power into it! Use a wide range attack!" Mike's Inferno glowed for a second, heat emanated from it, until it exploded in a heat waxe extrordinaire.
