Shinichi Kurosawa held his ground, the entire squad watching as the battle was about to take place. "Remember, if you want a chance to beat me, you have to go all out. Understood? Let that be a lesson to all of you!" He addressed the entirety of the third squad. "Don't let personal relationships get in the way of your goals! If someone is slowing you down, you have to...remove them! Now, if there aren't any further questions...you make the first move."

"Eh. You minion guys can try. I dont see the point in fighting a shinigami of captain level when its obvious you cant win. Seems like a waste of time, effort and energy. Now if you all excuse me, im going to go practice my Kido elsewhere." Shigure said to the rest of the squad members as he yawned and lazily walked away.

"Geez. Whats up the vice-captain's ass?" a new member to the squad asked.
"Captain Nagase has always been like this. You get use to it. He seems like a mean rude person but he treats us well at least. You just gotta catch him when he's in a good mood." another member replied.

"Hmph." Shinichi charged at Shigure, and swung his sword, purposely missing him.

"!!!!" Shigure turned around. "Oh, what is it this time captain? Anything thats actually important?"

"Well, as you're aware, several captain slots are open." He stood straight up, getting out of his battle position. "So, currently in Seretei, there's a unofficial quest to find new captains to fill the slot. While there are no members outside of the captain class that know their bankai, the captains have taken up the quest to train members of their squad. And while I suppose any of you could try for that position," Shinichi addressed the entirety of the squad. "..I think you're in the best position to achieve captain rank from squad 3. Interested?"

"*sigh* Wouldnt being a captain just take up MORE of my already eaten up time and be a royal pain in the ass?" Shigrue rudely responded to his captain. "Besides, whats bankai matter? I could care less about using my Zanpaktou, Kidou is my way of battle."

"Hm. Well, think about it Shigure. In fact, all of you think about it. Any of you want to go for captain, just ask for some sparring time, and I'll test your skills." Shinichi sheathed his sword, and adjusted his bandages. "Tch. I'm gonna need fresh ones again already.."

"Maybe later." Shigure replied as he vanished with a single step of shunpo. He sat on top of a tall building just outside the slums of rungokai as he looked down on it. "Tch. Everything still seems just as bad as before. I knew the higher ups wouldnt do anything about this place. Wasting their time and money on all that useless shit squad twelve does."

"M-maybe.......if.............if....."

"What Suzu. Dont talk if you aren't going to finish your sentences."

"Im sorry! It's just that......I had a thought but then I remembered that its a bad idea......"

"Just tell me already." Shigure sternly replied to his sword

"Maybe if you became a captain.......you could help everyone somehow." the shy spirit replied.

"Mmmmm. Not a bad idea. Its a relief knowing you can be useful at times." Shigure responded naturally not knowing what it meant to Suzu

"........Im sorry." Suzu replied as she stopped talking.

"Huh? What was that? *sigh* that girl needs to speak up. I can barely understand her most of the time. Well then I suppose i'll get training." Shigure said to himself in a better mood as he began to head back to the seretei.

"Captain Kurosawa! Please train me!" One of the squadmates bowed before Shinichi

".....Um...who are you?" Shinichi said, now in his office, sitting back in his chair.

"15th seat Yamato Takemaru!"

".....Well, lets see your record." Shinichi pulled out a file. "Hm...High marks during your classes....good performances during missions....Well Yamato you are a good officer, but not much here says you have too much leadership experience."

"Er...Please! Give me a chance sir!"

"Hm. Well, let's see how you respond under pressure. Have a seat." Yamato sat down. "Now, let's say you're leading a team of 5 members, and you get attacked by several hollow. How would you deal with the situation?"

"Well sir, I'd examine the situation, know my members and their skills, and divi up the hollows based on those skills."

"I see...and what would you do if one of your squad members were injured by the hollows?"

"Well, I would finish up my target, have the healer of the group-WAHH!!!" Without warning Shinichi jumped from his seat and pointed his sword at Yamato's neck.

"Now you listen. This position can only be given out to a select few. This isn't a game, understand? And if you don't get that through your head, then you're finished. Now. I'm gonna count to three. If you're still here, by three, I'll kill you. One....Two..." Yamato got up from his chair and headed toward the door. "You fail."

"Eh?!" Yamato looked back, sweat dripping down his brow.

"I told you this was to see how you deal under pressure. And you clearly chickened out. Let that be a lesson to you 15th seat Yamato. You may return to your duties."

"Er...Y-yes captain! Thank you for your time!" Yamato fled.

"....Maybe that was a little too much..."

"Psh. I remember you doing that same number on me cap." Shigure said as he waltzed into Shinichi's office as Takeharu ran out. "Only reason I didnt freak out was because I could've cared less at the time........cuz I was sleepy." he added as he scratched the back of his head.

"Well, that's how you became my vice captain. Good thing too. I doubt any of those other guys would have the patience to do all the paperwork you do." Shinichi relaxed again.

"..........Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh." Shigure said to himself.

"Like fucking hell I do. I pay some other lackey to do it. I'd fucking kill myself before I do those papers." Shigure thought to himself.

"Well speaking of papers....its time i go do some more of those oh so enjoyable papers." Shigure said as he began to leave the room

"You stopped by here just to do that? You sure there wasn't something you wanted to tell me?"

"Huh. Oh I was just gonna say I found a reason to bother with becoming a captain is all." Shigure said as he shrugged

"Really. Good for you. Want to know more about it?"

"More about what? Being a captain means you need good leadership and judgment skills under any situation, achieve bankai yada yada yada all that good stuff I already know, I just never cared to try." Shigure said as he leaned against the wall

Ruriko smiled as she watched the conversation, she sat upon a roof watching with great interest, glancing at the sky she slid down to the ground opposite to avoid people noticing her. "Poor Shirokawa, he has so much work to do cause I always wonder off but that's what my vice captain is for to do stuff I am too lazy to do." she chuckled. She began to walk back to her squad's home. "I do need to get around to training him to achieve his bankai though," she smiled as she watched the wind blow through the trees, "Though he will always be my vice captain, he is efficient and tidy so he's idea for my squad." she began to hum as she walked slowly back.

"Well, why do you want to be a captain then?"

"I've got personal reasons." Shigure replied

"Hm. Well, here's the deal. 10th squad is available, 11th is available, 5th is available. 11th squad is the combat division, and usually run by the Kenpachi of our generation." He looked Shigure over. "So I think 11th squad is out. 5th squad might be alright for you, but they tend to be pansies, probably not up to your standards. I'm thinking we should aim for 10th squad captain."

"Uhhhh ok?" Shigure said.

"....What's on your mind? You don't even seem that interested in this."

"Its nothing" Shigure replied

"....Shigure. Before we're partners, we're friends. If something is bothering you, tell me."

"Its nothing important." he said as he walked out of the room
