"Hmm." Shinichi walked out of the Squad 3 barracks, after having gotten a few lackeys to do the paperwork. He decided to go on a walk.

"I just finished captain," Mashashi said sitting opposite of her, "Anything else you need?"

Shigure was angrily stomping (what a surprise) down the hall as he passed Captain Yahiko. "Yo." he said to him informally. "Captain's being a pain in the ass as always" he said to his friend. "Sup with you"

"Hmm I will think of something here in a moment, but for now your free." Ruriko laughed as she watched the expressions of her vice captain.

"Hmm.." Shinichi walked briskly through the barracks of squad 3, waving at those who greeted him with a 'Good afternoon captain'. He sighed when they were out of ear shot. "Geeze. How am I gonna get him motivated? I wonder if Yahiko and Ruriko are having this much trouble...."

"Having internal issues Captain Kurosawa?"

"Eh?" Shinichi spun around, hearing an unexpected voice from behind him, "Oh. Captain Unohana. I was wondering who could sneak up on me like that."

"Please, Kurosawa-san. Don't make it sound like I was sneaking around. I was merely passing by, and thought I'd greet you." She smiled

"Er. Of course. I didn't mean to imply-"

"Still, I hear you're having problems with your vice captain."

"Did word of that spread already?"

"When an explosion goes off in the barracks, it does. Not to mention the 4th squad barracks are right next to the 3rd squad. Hence why you and I have such a friendly relationship. Despite your shyness around women."

"Er." Shinichi lost a bit of his composure. "Well, that's cause we spent a lot of time together, when I was getting my injuries treated. Besides, you're more like a motherly figure than anything and-"

"Oh? Do I look that old to you Captain Kurosawa?" She smiled that wicked smile that Shinichi grew to know well. After knowing Unohana for as long as he did, it still frightened him.

"N-n-n-no! Not at all!! You j-just take such good care of us! You're just very motherly! That's all."

"Well, thank you for the compliment. If you need any advice, please come see me." She smiled again and left.

"...Geeze..." Shinichi's heart still raced. "What an intimidating woman..."

"Ah, Shigure-dono!" Yahiko greeted the vice-captain, "This is certainly a surprise-degozaru. I assumed that Shinichi-dono would be working you over."

"Oh wonderful I thank you captain." Mashashi said trying to sound sincere, considering she wasn't too keen on sarcasm.

"He just got done with his daily dosage of trying to pry. So nothing new." Shigure said as he scowled at the thought of Shinichi. "Whats new with you?"

"Good I will call you when I need something," Ruriko laughed as she went into her own room.

"Not much," Yahiko replied, "my vice-captain seems to have disappeared on me-degozaru. But I suppose it can't be helped-degozaru. I'm sure he's fine."

"Or loafing around" Shigure said as he rolled his eyes

"What the hell am I gonna do with him?" Shinichi looked up at the sky. ".....I wonder what our former captain would do..."

"Maybe so," Yahiko replied with a laugh. "Still this is a pretty interesting situation we're in-degozaru. I never realized how wide the meeting hall was before today."

"you're so aloof about everything y'know. Almost makes it hard to imagine you out there in the battle field leading a squad." Shigure said as he began to laugh.

"I guess it is pretty hard to imagine-degozaru," Yahiko shrugged. He looked up at the clouds passing by, "To be honest sometimes I have a hard time believing it myself. I feel like any minute I'll wake up and get scolded for sleeping in late by..." Yahiko paused for a moment not saying anything, in an instant he turned to Shigure and said with a smile, "That's probably why I take things so easy-degozaru. If this is a dream, I want to spend it enjoying myself-degozaru. And once I wake up, I'll have tons of stories to tell."

"Is that so?" Shigure said, his mood becoming less angry after talking with his friend. "Makes sense, but theres so many others out there suffering, that I dont find it right that some who dont deserve it live the perfect dream, while many more who did nothing to deserve it live an absolute nightmare."

Yahiko blinked in confusion, "'Perfect dream?' 'Nightmare?'"

"Seretei. Rungokai. The dream and the nightmare. The shinigami all live the good life here and dont do jack shit for all of those suffering in the streets of the lower class area. Im gonna change that. I dont know how, but thats the only reason I can see becoming a captain could be of any significance to me. I dont even care if I just have to send 80% of my pay to the people there, im not gonna sit on my ass and do nothing when those infront of me are suffering. Never again." Shigure said to Yahiko

Mashashi walked outside and looked at the sky, "Nice to have a break once in a while," he thought for a moment, "Though that will be until the new information is brought in, then it starts all over again." he sighed and started walking.

"Hm?" Shinichi looked over to see the Masashi leaving the barracks of his squad. "Ah. Masashi!" Shinichi flash stepped to get closer to him. "Nice day, ain't it? How are you?"

I see. You really are... "That's a wonderful goal, but I think you need to understand one thing. Wait here." Yahiko vanished and reappeared in less than as minute. "I'm back. Now then Shigure-dono," Yahiko stuck out two closed hands, "pick one."

"Left. Because Im right handed" Shigure said

"Good choice," Yahiko opened his palm to reveal a beautiful flower head, "this is from Ginrei-dono's personal garden-degozaru. It was raised with much hard work and care. This hand," Yahiko held up his unopened right hand, "holds a flower I picked up from Zaraki, the most lawless and chaotic district in the North Rukongai. It has had to endure many hardships just to survive let alone flower."

"I dont get it." Shigure said not understanding his friend's motive.

"It's only a set up." Yahiko closed his hand and placed both in his sleeves, shuffling the contents for a few seconds. "Now I have a question," Yahiko pulled his hands out of his sleeves and held up two identical flowers, "Which flower is from where?"
