Chicago Illinois: 14:00 The Day of.

"...." Vlad looked outside the window of his office, finished with the work he had to have finished by Friday, his Wednesday was fairly boring. Looking out, he saw several orange-clad cloaked figures, giving out a product to passerbys. "....Henry. I'm going out to lunch, want anything?" He asked, standing up from his desk and adjusting his tie.

"No thanks Vlad. Enjoy!" Henry was a bit too peppy for Vlad's tastes. But he did his work, and did it well, so there was no reason to let him go. Being not hungry, Vlad walked down to check out what the cloaked figures were doing.

"....." Vlad listened while the main preacher spoke.

"Ladies and gentlemen! I am the leader of the American sect of the Shomonkai! Our glorious leader has revealed to me that the time has come! The great lord Belberith shall rise! And a new world order shall preside! You shall all earn a place at his side, should you pledge loyalty to the Shomonkai!"

"Pf. A cult huh?" Vlad lost interest and began to leave. One of the members placed a hand on his shoulder. "What!?"

"You sir, you walked out of that building correct? Their work is computer engineering. You must be very intelligent."

"Indeed. Which is why I'm too smart to fall for this cult bullshit." Vlad scowled at the Shomonkai member.

"We understand that some will be resistant to the change that will occur. But please believe our intentions are pure. We offer you this Communication Player. It is a sign of our acceptance of our differences." He offered Vlad the comp.

"....This looks like some kind of game system." Vlad remarked, examining the Comp.

"Trust me, it is far more than that." The Shomonkai member walked off to talk to other passerbys.

"Hm...." Vlad pocketed the comp, deciding that he would look at it later.

"Sheesh. Just because im thirty minutes late to class doesnt mean you should be able to hold me late for 2 hours for extra studying." Christopher said as he sighed exiting the building he was in on campus. "Do I wanna do anything today or just head back?" he asked himself.

"Chris!!!!" a female shouted.

"Huh?"" he said looking to his left to see a female classmate. One he wasnt fond of either. "What is it. Im not letting you copy my notes."

"No! For once I have something for you! Here!" she said she handed Chris what looked to be a game system. "I know your're into games and that nerdy crap, and some freak in an orange robe wouldn't leave me alone. When I told him to beat it he gave me this. So take it." she said as she began to walk off.

"Uhh....okay?" he said as she left. "What the heck? I didnt hear any news of a new DS." he said outloud to himself. Oh crap! The bus that goes back to the city leaves in four minutes!" he said as he began to dash to the bus stop.

Mat stepped out of the hotel he was staying at, the noise of the city overcoming him, "Well what am I going to do today," he looked around as he began to walk along the sidewalk. Glancing down a street he noticed a large gathering of people, "What is that," he wondered, he turned and started to head towards the crowd.

"People the time of our Lord is upon us," A man in a orange robe was preaching to the crowd.

"Great a end of the world cult." Mat tried to move past the crowd without being noticed, he was never into the whole end of the world theories.

"You, young man!" A cultist grabbed his shoulder.

"Yeah, what?" Mat remained neutral not sure what was going to happen.

"Do you know of the glorious time that will be approahing, the benevolent Lord Belberith will be blessing all of his faithful followers, come join us in our worship." The man handed Mat what looked like a game system.

"Wait I don't..." Mat tried to give the COMP.

"Please keep it, I insist," the man went back into the crowd with his fellow cultists.

"Damn cultists," Mat managed to get past the crowd as he headed towards as place to sit down so he could look at the COMP the man gave him, "Who knows I might get a few laughs."

"Hmm...." So what exactly is this thing? Vlad flipped the Comp open, taking a look inside. "...It looks like some kind of handheld laptop. Interesting...What's this? I have mail." Vlad looked through his mail:

1. At 14:00, Several congregations of the Shomonkai will be giving out Communication Players, afterwards, several incidents of attacks from wild beasts from around the Chicago area. These are said to be unrelated incidents.

2. At 15:00, a blackout and lockdown will ensue during the Chicago area. More reports of animal attacks and several deaths will be reported in the area.

3. At 18:00, 20 people will be killed in a local park from an attack by what is reported as: Goblin creatures. And the lockdown will continue through the night.

"W-what?! Wild beasts!? Did something break out of a zoo?! Goblins!? What the hell?!" Vlad lost his usual composure at the sight of the news. "T-this can't be right!"

Mat sat down at a outdoor cafe located a couple streets over, "Alright time to see what this Comp thing is." he opened it and it turned on, he skimmed through the features, "What," he noticed two unopened messages.

"What is this," Mat blinked a couple times reading the mail again, "This can't be true." he has a nagging feeling that he should be cautious, he slipped the comp in his pocket, "I think I'll hold on to this." he began to drink the coke he ordered.

Christopher just caught the bus in time.

"Sheesh. Talk about close!" he said as he sat down in the first open seat he saw. The device he received began to beep. "Huh?" he said as he pulled it out and opened it.

"....................." Chris sat there stunned. The one that shook him the most was number 2.

"QUICK! STOP THE BUS! DONT GO INTO THE CITY!!!!!!!!" he desperately shouted in case the messages were true.

"Shut yer trap!" the old bus driver shouted as he continued to drive.

"No! We cant! We'll be locked in! And murders! And black outs! And-"

"Allllright son. You're gonna come with me." a cop riding the bus said as he grabbed Chris by the arm.

"What? I didn't do anything!" he shouted flustered

"You just yelled to stop the bus spouting some world ending bullshit kid. You're either thinking you're a funny guy, or need help. Either way, you're disturbing the peace." the cop said as they passed a sign that read "Welcome to the City of Chicago!"

" No........................" Chris said to himself feeling like collapsing and crying since his life was seemingly over.

Tricia took a deep breath, "Coming to America for a break was a good idea," she looked at the tall buildings, "The city is so alive," she continued her stroll through the street.

A woman in an orange robe walked up to her, "Rejoice sister, the time of our lord Belberith is upon us!" she reached into her robes, "A new world order will be coming soon, here a gift from me and a reminder to be loyal to the lord."

Tricia looked at the thing she was handed, "Thank you," she paused as the woman walked off, "I guess," she examined it, "I guess it's an American thing." she continued her walk, "If I ever run into her again I will have to thank her." she put the COMP in her pocket, "I'll look at it later." she began to hum a tune to herself.

"This is completely bizarre....I've never seen this kind of format.." Vlad said, thumbing through the Comp as much as he could. "What is this thing?" He sat on a park bench, all sorts of people passing him by as he skimmed through the comp.

"hey mina, check this out! said Lena, Mina's cooking classmate. "huh?, what is it Lena, it looks like a DS."
"It's called a COMP. i got it from one of those cult guys! It's really cool, and i got for you! Almost everyone has one in school."

Mina was on her way to her waitress job, when she noticed her comp was making a ringing sound.

"Is this really going to happen," Tricia thought of how she got the Comp, "Maybe it is fate." she paused, "Or karma." she felt slightly sick to the stomach when she thought about it.

"...Demon summoning program? What the hell?!" An EXE file Vlad stumbled upon caught his attention. "......What is this? What are those Shomonkai people up to? W-wait what the hell!?" All of the sudden, the comp started flitzing out, showing all sorts of data in front of Vlad. "What the hell is going- Argh!!" Vlad was knocked back, people around him screamed at the flash of light.

"H-hey are you- What IS THAT?!" A person screamed.

"Who are you to summon me?" A serpent-like dragon presented itself in front of Vlad. "I am Python, I serve no man nor demon. Who are you to summon me?"

"...." Vlad stared agape at the demon in front of him.

Mia: Ty...what are you doing. Don't play with that thing, I don't like it. It said people were going to get hurt. Ty please... Ty put that thing down now! Eeeeek!
*the COMP gives of a large flash of light and a low rumbling sound comes from the floor. A man made of dirt and crumbling stone appears before Ty.
Erthys: I am the Element, Erthys. If you wish it, the Earth will be at your command...
*Erthys quickly lunges at Ty knocking him back. Erthys attacks again, but Ty quickly pushes the demon away. Erthys forms a mass of earth and prepares to launch it at Ty, but Ty raises his COMP in Erthys's direction. There are several flashes of light and Erthys collapses.
Erthys: We merge with all and mix with the essence. Now, take the power of Earth...
* Another flash of light and the earth man disappears
Mia: Wh...who...what was that? Ty what's going on? What did you...what did you do?
Ty: *shrugs* Idunno.
Mia: T...Ty... you big dummy...
*Mia begins to cry

"You've got it all wrong!" Christopher shouted to the cop at the station. "I was sent messages saying-"

"And you believed them? You must be retarded." one cop said laughing as a few joined him.

"Assholes. You guys dont protect people. You just show when its convenient. You dont really care about the safety of us, I can tell by your shitty attitudes!" Chris said infuriated.

"Woah woah son. You better watch your mouth! You must've forgotten who you're talking to!" the cop said grinning.

"I already said, ASSHOLE. So no, I didnt forget!."

"You little!" the cop grabbed Chris by his shirt.

"Argggh WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" a shout was heard from down the room.

"Fire! Fire!!!!!!!!!" another voice shouted.

"Hohohohohohoho......"

"Speak human. Or I shall devour you now." Python said to Vlad.

"I...I am Vlad Lammar! W-what are you!?" Vlad stood up.

"Do not make me repeat myself. I am Python, a demon. And you are my next feast." Pyhton reared back and attacked Vlad.

"Gahhh!!" Vlad flinched. "Dammit...."

"....Interesting. You are still alive human. Face me then, see if you are worthy of my power." Python reared for an attack again.

"Face you?!" The Comp in Vlad's hands had two words on it. 'Power hit' "What the-?" Vlad didn't have time to examine the comp further, as Python came charging at him. "Gah!" In panic, Vlad thrusted his fist at Python, feeling a surge of energy course through him, his fist made contact with Python.

"Hrgh!" Python was sent backwards by the hit. Vlad felt weaker, now, but Python took damage. "That power....how did you summon that? No matter! You won't be able to do it again!" Python charged for him again.

"Dammit!" Vlad looked at the comp, the words 'power hit' remained on it. Vlad selected the words, and felt the same course of energy course through him. ".....Come at me then." Vlad reared back and punched Python again. Python screeched. "AGAIN!" Vlad, confident in his new ability, selected the item again and charged at Python, finishing the demon with his third punch.

"Hrgh....Human....Your power is strong....I shall join you...Do not put our strength to waste." Python dispersed, his image on the comp.

"......What is this?" The Comp chimed, giving him another e-mail, explaining the function of the Comp regarding demon summoning. "...It really is a demon summoning program....." Vlad sat back down on the bench, weary from his fight. He laid his head back and looked up. ".....And that must be my Deathclock that it was talking about......2 huh?" Vlad snarled. "....I'm going to die in 2 days?"

Tricia started walking around again, thinking about the messages, "Maybe its a prank." she paused, "But why would a cult go to such extent for a prank and do it to multiple people." she pulled the comp out.

"I wonder what else this thing can do." Tricia thought for a moment, "I think I'll look at it when I get back to my hotel." she changed directions and began to head towards her hotel in the downtown area.

"....." Vlad walked around the city, examining people's heads. He had no intention of going back to work that day. He was finished with all his work, and was going to die in 2 days anyway. He still took the time to call Henry, blaming his absence for the day on food poisoning, to which Henry responded: 'I'm glad you didn't get me anything then!' "....At least I don't have to hear him ever again for the rest of my life." Vlad sighed. "....None of these people....Their deathclocks...all of them aren't living past 7 days." As he examined, he saw several different numbers, but most of them had #7 floating above their heads. "....I guess it doesn't really matter to me what happens in a week, now does it?" He looked above at his own number.

Mat finished his coke and left a tip on the table, "I wonder about those wild animal attacks," he looked at the comp and scrolled through the options, stopping at a particular one, Devil Summoning Program, "Wonder what this is." he looked around, "Maybe I shouldn't mess with this out in the open, this is obviously a modfied comp, maybe they are illegal." he walked off looking for a more discreet place to open mess with it.

*Mia's sobbing eventually fades
Mia: *sniff* It's almost 3:00...what are we going to do?
*Ty holds out Mia's COMP
Mia: Nu-uh! I'm not touching that. What if another...another whatever that was comes out?
Ty: Read it... please...
*Mia hesitantly reaches for the COMP her hand shaking.
Mia: Demon Summoning Program? That thing was a demon? It says something about a contract. Is that what you did?
*Ty nods
Mia: Well I'm not doing it. No-way.
*Ty stares at his sister intently
Mia: I said no. That's final.
*Ty continues to stare, this time slightly above his sister's head. The number 7 floats above her.
Mia: What's the matter? Why are you staring? Do I have a bug on me?
Ty: NO. Not if I can help it.
*Mia's number disappears. Ty looks up at the new number above his own head. He closes his eyes and calmly sighs.
Mia: You know sometimes you can be really weird.
*Suddenly the power goes out.

Cassandra sighed as she exited the mall carrying a single bag, "Not much of a haul today. Is it that hard to find good stuff?" She silently sulked until she heard a voice call to her.

"Hey there, miss," Cassandra turned to a shady looking man running towards her, "You dropped this back in the store." He handed Cassandra what looked like a handheld gaming device.

"That's not mine." Cassandra started to walk away.

"But I saw it fall out of your bag." the man followed after her.

"Nope, not mine," Cassandra dismissed him, "Bye now."

"Please. You just have to take it." the man seemed desperate.

"Ugh. Fine I'll take the damn thing," Cassandra said snatching away the game device, "Now could you, like, go bug someone else." The man nodded and went on his way. Cassandra sighed and stared at the device. She opened it and turned it on. Instantly a mailbox screen appeared and a message flashed.

Cassandra raised an eyebrow at the massage, "So it's called a COMP huh? That's so lame. Can't they come up with something trendier?" She then noticed another mail in her inbox.

Cassandra looked at the message in disbelief, "What in the...? This has to be some kind of prank. There's no way this could be real, right?"

"What the hell is going on!?" the cop shouted as he exited the room he was yelling at Chris in. "HEY YOU! WHAT DID YOU DO!" he shouted at Chris.

"What are you even talking about!?" he shouted flustered

"Something came out of your bag and is burning everything!!!!"

"..............what?" Chris said as he dashed past the cop to see the dead body of a charred cop holding the comp. "Dumbass! Why'd you screw around with it!?" he said as he pryed it from his dead hands.

"Hohohohohoho.........." a voice chuckled.

"Huh?" Chris said as he turned to see a floating jack o lantern.....holding a lantern.

"Im Pyro Jack ho! Are you gonna be any fun?" it said as he launched a blast of fire at Chris.

"No!" he said as he prepared to have his life end. "......huh?" he said as he saw that his arm was just a little burnt, but nothing else. He looked down at the comp and read "Zan" "Is this thing protecting me?" he said as he highlighted "Zan". His hand began to glow with a green aura. "Wh-wh-what the hell!?" he shouted as he pointed it at Pyro Jack and blasted him out of the building. ".............Woah........" Chris said amazed at what just happened. "So these mails are a warning of whats going to happen..........and we can use the comp to defend ourselves. I got it!" he said as he ran out to see Pyro Jack lying motionless on his back.

"...........hoooooooooooo............." it groaned. "You win. Guess i have to help you out now. Be sure to make me powerful ho!" he said as he disappeared and returned to the comp.

"..............this is awesome. But in the wrong hands this could be a catastrophe." Chris said to himself in awe.

A chime went off on Vlad's watch. 15:00

".....15:00, huh?" If this were a normal day, he would have been back in his office ready to work. "That's when the black-" His thoughts were interrupted by a car crash nearby. "W-what!?" He looked at the traffic light as people rushed to help the people in the cars. "....The blackout has started.....The lockdown!" Vlad noticed a nearby subway station, and ran toward it, hoping he could make it out of the city in time. He lived in the city, but the fact that all the people's deathclock's said 7, and he would be trapped in there with them, unnerved him. He hoped to be able to get out of the city, and perhaps change his own deathclock.

"I'm sorry sir, but the subways aren't currently running right now. The blackout caused some issues, and the Governor issued a halt on all subway trains." The attendant said.

"Dammit!" Vlad cursed. The attendant's deathclock said 0. Something was going to happen to this man today. Vlad backed away.

"Sir? Are you alright?" The attendant asked.

"...Heh. I'm better than you...." Vlad laughed nervously, starting to sweat. "I'm going to live two days longer than you are. Enjoy the rest of your life." Vlad turned and ran up the subway stairs, ignoring the yells from the attendant.

Chris dashed down the street trying to avoid the chaos that was ensuing. People's shouts and cries were heard, car crashes all over the place, mass chaos.

"How can a black out cause this IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!?" he shouted. He saw a group of students leisurely walking down the street, all with a "0" above their heads. "They have a 0.........I have 1............huh....." Chris said as he began walking to their direction. His 1 changed to 0. "!?" He became alert to see that he and the kids on the other side were about to cross the street. He backed away and got back on the sidewalk and it returned to being a 1. "That means! HEY YOU GUYS WAIT!!!!!!" he shouted to th kids.

"What the hell does he want?" one of the students said as his clock completely disappeared as he set foot on the street. The others stopped and their numbers increased to 2. The student who didnt listen was then seemingly instantly mowed down by a truck that was speeding down the street, which then crashed into a building.

"Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!" one of the female students shouted.

"What the fuck was that!?!?" one of the other male students shouted.

"This is crazy! I-im going home!!!!!!" another female student said as she ran towards the subway.

".....thats right.........the lockdown. There's no way out......" Chris said to himself. "But why do I still have a 1? It must have something to do with my possessing a comp and demon. Damn it! Its protecting me, but on the other hand its probably whats going to do me in in the end!"

"Eek!" Mia shrieked as the lights suddenly went out. "The blackout! The e-mails...they're true..."
Suddenly Mia's face grew pale and she looked at her brother, her body shaking in fear. "Ty! We have call mom...The e-mail... it said people would be attacked in the park. Ty that's right next to where Mom works. We have to call her!"
Ty hands his sister the phone. "Ty! That won't work, that's a cordless phone! Where did I put my cell? Quick, help me look!"...
"Here it is!..."OH NO! The phone towers must be dead too, I can't get a signal!"
Mia turns to her brother, he is staring out the window.
"TY! Pay attention Mom might be in trouble! We have to go find her, you have to drive us."
Ty shakes his head and points out the window. Cars fill the street horns blaring, the dead street lights have caused several accidents and traffic is at a standstill.
"No, No, No... the traffic lights are dead...There's probably no power for the subway either. Mom's on the other side of the city, It'll take hours to get there on foot...we have to go now or we won't make it!"
Mia runs out the door. Ty begins to follow her. He pauses for a moment and picks up his sister's COMP then continues to leave.

Tricia looked at the lights in her hotel room, "What, the power is out," she paused, "Oh yeah the e-mails, they said a blackout would come."

She pulled the COMP out and started to scroll through the programs, "I wonder what that is." She stopped over the program labeled Devil Summoning Program.
