I thought ShikaXTemari worked ok, but I feel the same way about Naruto/Sakura/Hinata as I do about Hachi/Sakurako/Yukari. Hinata's better than Sakura, but I don't think Naruto deserves her at this point. Lee should have been the main character so give him Sakura, and have Naruto repent and get w/Hinata. I'm also rooting for ChojiXIno, 'cause us chubby guys deserve some love, and their kid would be able to use mind control on people who tease him on his weight.

Well, I'd like the idea of Naruto/Hinata. But only so Hinata can get what she wants. She can most certainly do better, but there's never been any relationship between her and Shikamaru, so she may as well just stick with Naruto.

However we all know that it's futile. Hinata will never get Naruto, cause the name 'Sauske' is etched into the very soul of Naruto. And vice versa.

All I really hope for is that Shikamaru gets Temari. I'd like to see Hinata happy I guess. But I really don't care about any relationships in Naruto anymore. They don't really try to win me over in any way.

True. The relationships in Naruto aren't shown much.

Hmm...yeah, you're right. Hinata deserves better than him because he's just a total dumb ass. Then again, after her confession, he might feel differently.

Also, I agree with you. The relationships/potential pairings in Naruto are pretty shitty, but I'm such a romantic I don't care~ To be honest, I blame Kishi. Among the "top three" shonen manga, it's a mystery as to how Naruto can be one of them when Kishimoto is an utterly awful writer. I guess it's just how great the manga itself is...? No, even then it doesn't make sense. To tell the truth I don't know.

Well, the physics of the established world work well. Usually. Typically any recent chapters with Sauske stretch that, but everyone who reads the manga agrees that those parts are the absolute worst part of Naruto.

His plots are ridiculous, and he's awful at making us feel sympathetic towards his characters. I mean, did anyone feel ANYTHING for that guy who said that Killerbee killed his father?

And despite all the emotional beating Naruto had in his childhood, does anyone care? The guy needs to take lessons from the person who wrote Ai Kora, in which you felt such empathy for Yukari that after every chapter she was in you felt like half your soul was ripped out and stomped on.

I can pretty much agree with you Gin. Last time I think I cared about a death was Kakashi...but they had to bring him back... Pain's story was mostly "I lost my dog and my best friend now I am a maniac...oh no you had a sadder story than me?! Now I must kill myself!"

I did like that the Akatsuki were brought back idk why I just liked that part. Sasuke is pissing me off with his story I just wish he'd die already...

Yeah...ignoring that reference... Kishimoto is not a very good writer. It'd be nice if a manga like that could be written be someone better. It's really easy to see how that could be improved without even really trying. Kind of a shame to see such potential wasted.

I actually found this to be a rather heartwarming chapter.

Probably cause I'm a mama's boy, but the last little bit brought a tear to my eye.

It's better than ripping off Persona for sure.

Also, Naruto's mom is hot.

Same. Definitely. It was really cute, and sweet, and I liked it. It's a lot better than the more recent chapters have been, and reminds me why I actually like that manga.

This chapter proves that Kishimoto still has the ability to make good stuff, but the current story is blegh. Its obvious that his stronger points is character backstories, which i highly enjoy anyways

Yeah. Kishimoto's main problem is his obsessive focus on Sasuke, who by now, we just don't fucking care about! But does he? Of course! HE IS HIS FAVORITE CHARACTER! God, just kill him off already...

I don't think it's just Sauske. Mind you, the character of Sasuke is one big pit of redundancy and completely destroying anything useful that they ever had done.

Building upon what Naruto said, it's all about the character's backstories. Looking backon the series as a whole, the part I enjoyed the best was the Kakashi version of Turn back the Pendulum. As much as I'd hate to see Kishimoto become successful for the tripe he's created, rather than do what he's been doing: IE. Ridiculous plots, bullshit jutsus, unlikable characters, have the story take place in the past with the whole war with the other villages. Sure it's not as preachy of acceptance of all things cause we see now that a lot of the people in the other villages are actually pretty cool and kind people, but that doesn't make for a good story.

What DOES make for a good story, are characters with solid motivations and likeable traits, a plot that doesn't sound like it was created while someone was high, and an enemy that has a realistic and rational goal.

Think about it: A warring nation with the goal to get more land, more power, more resources, etc etc is a much better idea for a plot then:

A man pretty much on his own, with an elite fighting team whom get killed by a bunch of tweens, his goal to get the greatest vision by collecting a bunch of eyes, and using the moon as a sort of doomsday device to control everyone everywhere.

Kishimoto, my advice, wrap up the current plot as fast as you can, and then do a new manga, much shorter, around 100-150 chapters, based upon the life of Yondaime Minato, with his girl and his young team, and then end with Kakashi watching from a distance as he takes on the 9-tailed fox with his own bare hands, and end it with the seal.

I don't even know anymore...

So... I the only one who noticed the irony in that Naruto punched Minato upon their first meeting, and upon meeting Kushina, she hit Naruto?

I would. But that seems to be the general consensus of how people meet in Narutoland.

How many times has Sakura punched Naruto? Killerbee does fistbumps. The only person that doesn't punch people to greet Naruto is Sauske, who instead stares him down and thinks about how he wants to bone them.

I gotta say I kinda like Kushina. She seems alright.
I liked the scene where Naruto thought she was the Kyuubi and she laughs.

Meh. Soso chapter. Nothing really happened in it. Next week's might be more exciting. But who knows with Kishimoto?
