Emi sat in the chair he indicated, "Well I need money, is there any work I could do around here." she paused, "Also how do you join a guild, are you just approached or can you ask to join them?"

"Well as far as work, you can do freelance work such as hunt monsters or escort people traveling," Cein paused, "Now as for guild joining most you can ask to join but you'll probably have to find a way to prove you'll be useful to them, but then again your asking the wrong person, I am not part of a guild."

Emi was shocked by this, "How are you not in a guild your skill in fighting is amazing!" she almost stood up at her surprise, "Does that mean you started your own guild?"

"-!!!!!"

".......Huh........was that someone yelling?" Axel said as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. Only about 20 minutes had passed since he fell asleep. "Probably just my-"

"WE KNOW HE'S IN HERE!"

"That voice! Why are they here!?" Axel shouted to himself as he ran out of Noah's room and looked down the stairs to see Onyx and his sister threatening Noah's parents to reveal Axel's whereabouts. "Damn!"

"I dont know what you're talking about." Noah's father said as he sat down the book he was reading.

"Sis maybe we got the wrong house.........." Onyx started.

"Shut up! You know we both saw him in here!" his sister shouted.

"Why are you following him anyways?" Eliza asked the two siblings

"None of your business!" the girl said as she swung her fist towards Eliza.

"HEY!" Axel shouted as he shot her in the face with a blast of magic through the front door causing it to break.

"Guh! I knew you were here!"

"Im sorry..........." Onyx said as Axel ignored him and walked outside.

"If you're sorry, then do whats right. Dont do wrong because thats what that lass is telling you to do. You have your own life son." Noah's father said to Onyx.

"But without my sister...........I'd be lost as to what to do." Onyx said.

"Well, it looks like you get along with the lad outside." the man said to Onyx.

"............you're right!" Onyx said. "Im sorry for everything!" he said as he ran outside.



"You just dont get it do you!?" Onyx's sister said as she swung her dagger at Axel.

"Theres nothing to get from a lowlife thief like you!" Axel said as he backsteped and avoided the slash. "Hah..............hah.............shoot." Axel said outloud to himself. He was still fatigued from the run earlier, and his physical build wasn't meant for much physical combat. "Gotta find an opening........somehow."

"Hah! Look! Now you're surrounded!" she said as she saw Onyx run outside. "Take him out!"

"No! Im done doing everything you tell me to do out of fear! Im my own person! I have things I want and dont want to do too! And im done hurting innocent people just because you say to do so!" Onyx shouted as he looked to Axel and smiled.

"Hah. That sounds alot better." he said smiling at his new friend. "Lets get outta here!" he said as he turned around. "Im sorry for everything! I'll be sure to come back and properly thank you both later! Promise!"

"Ready?" Onyx said as he threw a tear gas bomb at his sister.

"Gah! Onyx! You little-GUH!" his sister shouted as she was delivered a punch to the stomach and a kick to the face knocking her out.

"Lets go!" Axel said as he grunted picking up Onyx's sister.

"Well I just haven't found a guild that suited me." Cein said looking around, "None of them have appealed to me, most of the ones that do approach me are a bit on the shady side." he sighed, "Honestly I have almost thought about making my own guild."

"Hey that sounds like an idea you should start a guild!" Emi said ecouraging him, "You could easily do it since you know what you want in one." she smiled, "I would even join your guild!"

Cein was suprised by the enthusiasm, "As I said I was thinking about it, I really wasn't sure about it," he sighed thinking about actually starting a guild, "It would be a big step," he thought, "But it could be worth it in the end."

"Mmm. It's good to be back outside." Marcus said, stretching his body and absorbing the sunlight. Lucy grumbled behind him, sick of Marcus completely.

Noah looked at the horizon, "Indeed it is."

"Shall we?" Marcus continued navigating his steps through the rubble. Lucy shut the trapdoor.

"There is one more thing I was hoping you could help me with," Emi was hoping that the stranger would be able to help her here, "Could you loan me some money to pay for a room for the night because I am broke."

Cein paused, "So you are asking me for a loan, how are you intending to pay it back?" he began to think of a way for her to work the debt off.

"I was hoping maybe you could help me find a job and I would work my debt off." Emi said hoping to get agreement from him.

"So then," Noah spoke up trying to start conversation, "what do you two plan to do once the job is over?"

"Whatever Commandant Alexei needs for his next project." Marcus smiled, heading for the exit of the ruins.

"Beats me." Lucy said coldly. "I'll head someplace warmer."

Noah raised an eyebrow, "Alexei? I did not know we were working for someone so prestigious."

"You aren't. I am. You two are temporarily working for me." He placed his hand on his chin. "Although, my orders came from Commander Schwann, but it's obvious that those orders were from the Commandant. Schwann after all is in the pocket of Alexei. Orders coming from Schwan are bound to be orders from the Commandant. Especially when they involve someone outside of the Schwann brigade."

Lucy, uninterested in the conversation, was picking her teeth with a fingernail. Not very graceful, but effective. And the men weren't looking, so it didn't matter all that much.

"Well I have two suggestions, if you can't fight then I suggest working at the restaurant I eat at for money to pay me off, if you can fight then help me with my jobs and I will subtract your debt based off my payment." Cein said putting his hand out for a handshake, "Name is Cein Mercaid by the way."

"Emi Kaltzburg, it is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Mercaid," Emi shacking his hand then pausing, "I do know how to fight so I could help you with your jobs, thought what do you do?" she realized she just agreed to something that may be insane.

"Well I am a freelance, I work for various guilds or groups of people wanting to travel between towns that don't have a blastia." Cein paused, "Aside from that I do occasional monster hunting which get's me in a bit of trouble with the Hunting Blades but its not like I am a threat to them."

"For your escort jobs what guilds are you usually helping," Emi asked out of curiosity, "Also what kind of monsters do you hunt."

"I see," Noah placed his hands behind his head as they entered Aspio, "this is troubling. I was hoping this would last a little longer to be honest."

"Usually if anyone, Fortune's Market hires me occasionally, then for most escorts out of guilds its just travelers looking for easy passage from one town to another, as for monsters its usually small groups that are harassing towns but are too small for the Hunting Blades to pay much attention." Cein leaned back a bit in his chair.

"Well, the distance between Aspio and the ruins is a rather short one." Marcus began. "Thank you both for all your help." Marcus bowed. "I'm sure we'll all meet again at some point."

I certainly hope not. Lucy thought to herself.

"I'll especially miss you Miss Lucy." Marcus grabbed her hand and gave it a gentle kiss.

"EH?!" Lucy responded with a slug to his face. "DON'T YOU DARE DO THAT EVER AGAIN!!!"

"Ow..." Marcus whimpered. "Well, take care of yourself Noah." He did a 180 and walked into the city.

"..." Lucy watched him go. "Well, I'm outta here. Nice meeting you." Lucy started heading out of the city.

Emi thought for a moment, "So you just do the jobs that the larger guild's consider beneath them?" she yawned slightly, realizing she was more tired than she thought.
